Looks like 301 stainless to mild steel. The problem isn't the different metals, it's that the welder was afraid of burning holes and didn't hit it
with enought heat. It will crack like that, I would suggest the owner barrow a tig machine, grind out the crap and sled it up
proper. _________________ ...and by the power invested in me as God of my world... |

do you have to cut anything to use the 30 degree tranny kit? Are your ratios really high now? high rpms on the freeway? _________________ SubyNotch.com is back up! |

yeah yeah my welding sucks, I haven't got to the grinding of the welds yet...
The tranny kit, as for cutting just removing the chassis tin ect and the frame horns needed to be trimmed on the inside for the case castings....
I believe I got it at moore auto parts?
I was more expensive but i like it better than the strap setup!
It leaves you about an inch between the top mount on the 091 and the rear floor....
It gives you nice space under the oil pan....
Ratios low first gear and definately not a 1500 rpm 85mph car, eventually addressing the gearing but for now its good for me... |

plent of ground clearance with the 30 degree tranny adapter?
Very happy with this vehicle , plenty of power (200hp) and very driveable....
Only 1 thing is using up this factory 091 clutch and probably needing a satge 1 or 2? |
Where do get a 30 degree tranny adapter? I couldn't find it at Moor Auto Parts. Is it also called a 1in tranny lift kit?
Then for the clutch, the stage 1 or 2 which one is the better choice?
I also like the way u have the water tubes going into the center channel. I seen most people put them on the outside under the car, they say it get better cooling that way. Is that true? Does it make a big difference?
I was wondering also do you have a pic of your scoop for ur radiator? Thanks
P.S. I love your bug. a perfect sleeper.
Thank you again for all your help. |

hmm i thought it was moore, it might be Lates Rage or Pacific customs...
I couldn't find it on thier web site so I called....
I'll look through some recipts...
I found it, it was pacific customs part #ac311229 $166.00
sorry it says 10 degree, thats what I got for the clearence i have...
I've had no problems with the coolant lines through the tunnel so far, bleeding air or over heating...
I only had to cut 1 heater cable on the passenger side?
The radiator I used was the scirocco stock radiator its a double pass and cost around $70 at car quest...
And I also have the dual fan setup from summtt, it works.pretty well..
I don't know about the clutch, you can call kennedy direct and talk to them they will know.... |

I believe it was the later model bus 6rib, it fit with little triming of the frame horns with the kit I listed above...
The shift rod uses the existing hole in the chassis...
I even used my orgional shift rod no mods...
I've seen alot of guys cutting the floor up and using a tall block for the shift coupler but this kit works IMO very well....
But you do need to change the axles.
Also this degree trans mount dose not let the air cooled tin seal in the bulked, just thought I'd add that.
But the ej25 sohc works fine...
In my pics you can see the trimming to the rear valance, but clears the hood... |

I got the here on the classifieds from a guy in texas they had bug cvs on one end and bus cvs on the other....
Eventually I could get the bug to bus stub axles but we will see if the hold for now, I don't see why they shouldn't?
There is a specific lenght for the axle though...
You can check with pacific customs... |

In reading this post, I saw some comments about Outfront Motorsports engines with cold start issues. We are the source of may of those comments. 2 weeks ago, I took Kathleen's Manxter to Rabe Motorsports, the east coast EMS Stinger tunning shop. After a couple of hours of dyno & street tuning, her car runs much better. We need to go back and have more cold start work done, which will be done in the spring. They also added an O2 sensor, so now the engine has feedback.
I am sure Outfront could have done similar tuning, but being on the west coast and only having a chassis dyno, you can see the difficulty if you buy a crate engine like we did with a generic starting tune. They have been very helpful along the way, but can only do so much from a distance. Tom _________________ Manxter #16, 1968 Meyers Manx & Kick-Out SS #16 (WIP)

Everything you need to know is here: http://www.rabemotorsports.com/v4/pages/home/home.html They were also good at troubleshooting some other issues with the Manxter. Tom _________________ Manxter #16, 1968 Meyers Manx & Kick-Out SS #16 (WIP)
