I was reading around and found this thread http://www.rs25.com/forums/f5/115598-roating-manifold-ej18-fuel-questions-2.html#post3000595

Someone else was struggling with some of the same issues 3-4 years ago. I asked the same question as Im asking here....still need some love on this one;

I realize this is an old post, but i'm currently doing this same project, and I think I have a cure for this issue....the hard lines that run under the manifold can be cut back to clear the water manifold, flared, and you can run a high psi hose on them.

However, I also had to change my coolant manifold by relocating the outlet and capping off one end. I did it mostly to make the water outlet face toward the radiator. I cut and lifted the cargo tray 5" to accomodate the radiator. Most people run the radiator in the front of the car.

Also, I wanted to keep the vintage VW gas tank, so I cut the top of a subaru gas tank (fuel pump housing and all), and grafted it into the top of my VW tank. The pickup length is actually perfect. I added one baffle to the bottom of the tank to prevent excess slosh. It took me about 3 hours to fab and about an hour to weld.

If anyone is still reading this thread, I have a few important questions I need answers for

I figured out all of the above information...but the one problem that you run into is this; You either have to flip the Alternator to the other side of the bracket, OR get Manifold spacers 1/2" to 3/4" ( think theyre called phenolithic spacers(sp?)). I dont want to flip the ALT, i think it belongs much better in the middle....but the spacers I found are over $120. I THOUGHT i found some made of aluminum for a lot cheaper, but i cant find em now. THIS is where I'm stuck!! Any help is awesome!

Don't know how much you'd need, but you can get some 1/2-3/4" thick garolite sheet (G-XX or G-10/FR4) from mcmaster: http://www.mcmaster.com/#garolite
I don't think the subie would need the high temp G-7 like you would on a vw head. Of course mcmaster has aluminum bars too that would be cheaper than the garolite, either option you'd have to do the fab work yourself. Plus the two pairs of gaskets. Depends on how much your time is worth.

That link shows all kinds of stuff, but where's the spacer material? Aluminum would be ideal, but I would have to have it surfaced after fab....and grinding aluminum SUX.

Baahahaha Laughing it was free and looked cooler than the stock tank. The Subaru fuel pump housing is the perfect length for the depth of the tank. I need to get access to a Tig so I can put it back together.

Joel -I have a question for you. I want to reverse my intake, I've read some stuff, but what is required to do it? Im asking You because you understand my application. Do i literally just need to situate the ALT out of the way of the TB, reroute ALT wires, and lift the intake slightly to clear the coolant manifold?

And also, im using a stand alone Haltech ECU, so how would I reassign the injector firing order? I keep confusing myself trying to figure this out.

You'll have to flip the loom back on it but it will need unwrapping and relocating to reach some of the sensors anyway.

Are you flipping the water manifold to? that creates some problems,
the pipe hits the bellhousing so will need turning and rewelding and it usually hits the rigid line to the fuel rail so you will need to get creative there.

No, we cut the hose end off of the manifold, capped it, and re welded the hose end to come out the other side. I'll have the part back soon, I let my buddy weld it up, he's good with cast aluminum.

As far as the loom goes, I have an entire loom to work from, plus the ECU wiring, so it should be fine...but I need more info on this for sure. A diagram, a wire to injector list, something...because every time i try to write it down, I confuse myself. I guess if I mark them as I go, I should be able to figure it out. Im only about halfway versed on electrical and injection, give me any carburetor and Im ur guy, TBs and injectors, not so much

I built an under car air flow scoop today...

Kevin, is your front tranny mount just bolted through the trailing arm pivot boxes?

I've been looking for a front mount setup that bolts in rather than weld in.

Although Todds plate that welds between the forks wouldnt be hard to chop back out again if the need arose
