Yeah, the turbo is definitely easier to mount under the bodywork, as it can hide behind the stock valance and decklid pretty easily.
The blower has a lot of visual appeal, though. |

They definately have the cool factor and they sound awesome too.
Just alot more doable on a vw engine. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

Nonsense. That is just a crappy weld. |

The car ran good, extremelly good... but I never ran it on open road before I finished the car, I sold the chasis to a friend that wanted it to make something different out of the car. I kept the engine and everything else and now it is going in a 73 bus as soon as I receive the Flexplate from Kennedy. The only draw back about the setup in the bug is that the deck lid do not fit because the supercharger hit it, but I like the "WOW WTF" factor. _________________ You cannot fight with STUPID people; becasue you have to get down to their level and they will beat you up with experience.

Does anyone else have an issue with the pedal being to 'soft'? My foot gets tired because I can't rest enough of the weight of my foot on the pedal without accelerating. _________________ Manxter #39 on a 1971 Pan

Adam - you can add an extra throttle return spring on the engine end that can help with that. Tom _________________ Manxter #16, 1968 Meyers Manx & Kick-Out SS #16 (WIP)

Yeah, the throttle linkage on my 2.2 is pretty soft. I'm probably going to add another throttle spring. As it is, it can be pretty 'twitchy' if you aren't concentrating.

I bought a spring pair from Lokar http://www.southernrods.com/categories/fuel-system...t-116.html and used the smaller spring from a mount on the intake plumbing to the throttle arm. I can send you a picture if you need it. It is also a nice saftey feature. Tom _________________ Manxter #16, 1968 Meyers Manx & Kick-Out SS #16 (WIP)

Yup thats always been an issue with mine.
I drove it over 300miles yesterday to a show and back and my foot was killing by the end, really need to get that cruise control working.
A second spring is the answer I just need to work out an effective way to attach it.
On an unrelated note yesterday was one of the hottest days we've had here this summer at 40c (105f) and even sitting on 75mph on the motorway with the A/C cranked it kept it's cool so to speak.
Got 33mpg too. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

N/A EJ22.
Running stock ECU which is the main reason for the good mileage.
I know I could get a heap more power out of it with aftermarket but I love the simplicity and self diagnostics of the stock one, plus it's got enough power to embarrase the boy racers as is. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

5 speed manuals are going well, we have had quite a lot go out....it all depends on people finishing their conversions.
Got one in a beach buggy, one in a beetle, one in a type 3, one in a Kombi next week, one in a Karmann Ghia next month... so there should be an example in each type of car soon.
I am about a month away from having the first prototype 4 speed auto ready to fit into a car. The conversion works the same for 4 speed and 5 speed autos. Hope to have it testing over the next few months and then a kit released before the end of the year. _________________ Reversed gears for Subaru Transmissions

Will these trans need a brain for shifting or is it simply a mechanical linkage that accomplishes the changing of gears? |

Subaru autos have their own ECU that helps control them and change shift pattern according to your driving style. A couple of wires and plugs, real easy. I am of the belief that they will also work without the ECU and various things can be done to trick them up and change shifts manually. The 5 speeds also have a paddle shift if that floats your boat. _________________ Reversed gears for Subaru Transmissions

This is exactly what I wanted to hear!
I believe that the Megasquirt EFI ECU will also run an electric shifted transmission. |

Well I better get on with it then!!! Plenty of development work and testing to go before its ready to be released. _________________ Reversed gears for Subaru Transmissions
