Hi onebadbug!

you are welcome! i would say for sure a bad replacement part, as so many on the market these days. nothing like an original part used or nos.
if it's possible for you i would searching for donor dash corners, and replace them again, i know it's hard but you don't want windshield rubber that not seals well.

best regards

Ummm... no, the entire body has all of it's original metal (entire car which is 100% rust free & original, only piece of metal that was replaced anywhere on the car was a hacked in hole in the frame horn from a PO stuffing in a later trans), sorry if I wasn't clear on that maybe.

I was referring to the Wolfsburg replacement chrome trims I installed into the gasket and then installed the complete unit... Something is just definitely out of whack at the 2 bottom corners...

I had to tweak the WW trims when I installed them on my glass.

Yay! LET THERE BE 6V LIGHT!

$112 for a new 48 month 6v battery.. HOLY SCHNIKIES!!!

I can see I definitely need to either blast off the old buckets and repaint them this fall/winter or pick up some new ones maybe. And yah, I know the tail lights are just a tiny bit high but que-cera-cera, I'm not a concourse car ya know? ... besides, at least people can see them a little better there. Got running & brake lights too, AWESOME!

Found a cheap-o push button switch that fit right in the empty choke hole without any modification for temporary until I can tear apart one of the other 3 dead push ignition switches down the road so... Even powered up the BIG-M radio which looks in decent shape as well and it turns on, hums a bit and the light works but have no speaker laying around to see if it makes any sound or not but, it needs a good cleaning anyway so that will be down the road...

Think tomorrow I'm going to start testing the pile of original flashers I have and see if any of them are useable. Would love to just throw in the semaphores & wipers and such but still need to figure out what I actually need to do at the upper harness for the European spec stuff on the new American spec harness so I can run the flashers at the corners.

I think I am going to just run the semaphores on a separate barndoor switch after I can get rid of the temporary starter switch and just use them as a novelty (I live in an urban area NOBODY in my area will see them and if they do by the time they figure out what they are they are, the damage would be done, while they laugh)...

Also found a nice little VW 101 drivers side mirror for the right price here in the classifieds polished that up and put it on... don't know if they are right, but hey, I love it! : )=

And yeah it turned out to be a blue ribbon day for our VW family...

I even managed to pull down Best interior! ...but kind of confused though considering the head liner isn't even in yet... maybe that's the upside of going with a triple black color scheme? So damn dark no one can see whats right, what's in, missing... right..? LOL

Either way today was a ton of fun considering my last VW show was in 1989... Enjoy!

The 101 style side mirror is what I would say is the best choice for you oval. Probably because thats what I have too. Very Happy

Your ride looks badass in that last pic. Good on you to get it mobile while its still warm enough to enjoy a handful of shows. Congrats on the interior! I have to say you did a great job stuffing those covers on, its not an easy task.

I see Doug built your engine. He lives less than a mile from my house. He built the engine in my "56 that I am working on now. Sorry I missed meeting you last Sunday as I had to leave the show early. Congrats on the trophies.

Kind of like the the 6th anniversary of this project that I originally traded out for my boat in 2008... So spin the clock forward now and a short 6 years later, heck it's a Saturday, lets a take a weekend ride!

So far we've burned almost our first half tank of gas and haven't leaked a drop of anything anywhere & haven't had to be towed anywhere... yet... Though 1st gear for some reason got a little crunchy so we just kind of avoid it like the plague. In the back of mind I already thinking about dropping the motor trans from the Ladawriand begin cleaning up that and if the oval goes the rest of the driving season at least we'll have a back up in case it decides to twist her original gears... It's nice having a pair of matched vehicles within 300 digits all on hand to swap at will... Take that purists... (j/k)

Either way?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

I know we will.

grinning ear to ear while causing traffic jams at will....

Almost a fully filled tank down & still, no gremlins.... Loving this oval.. Hopefully I can finish up the Semaphores and wipers mechs installed over the next week or three, fingers crossed....

QUESTION:: Would it be easier to have my wiper arms sent in for chroming? or less hassle to just buy them outright here, there or somewhere...

I would paint them silver and at the same time do the headlight buckets. They sell the correct style repros already painted if you go that way. If you are going to use the wipers you might want to use the repros. I dont use mine so I have the swf's. WW sells the chrome/silver paint or you can use any chrome paint.
