Thanks for the words guys. Sgot-E I think it is Git 'R" Done
Shot it last night. Turned out pretty good for first time. Epoxy Sealer and then the Single Stage. I did get a few runs, and there is a texture to the paint that is a little rough. All in all not too bad at all. I will take care of the texture and runs when I put it away for the winter. It's time to get this thing on the road.
Here are some shots.

Looks real good. I appriciate the pictures. You were real helpful in my interior build with the POR15 and armor coat.
Stance looks great. I am sure once you bolt everything back on board and have wife and kiddies in you will probably find the suspension is great for the dirt. May seem hard now but things change with tortion bars when a little weight is added. Are you planning on puting 1" longer arms to center the rear. |

Thanks guys. Saddlesore, I have been watching your build and it's looking really good. I love the roll bar. I will be doing one up similar to yours, hopefully in the near future. Need something to strap the SUP board onto.
As far as the suspension. I don't think it is going to soften up much at all. Rear is resting on stops. I had it out around the yard last month and it was teeth chattering. As far as the longer arms, I am going to reindex 1 on the outside and see how that goes. I was following up on the 1 inch longer arm thread a while back, but haven't heard anything in awhile. That would mean that I would have to get longer shocks. I put out good money for the Bilsteins I have so I will ride them for awhile.
On another note. Does anyone have any tricks to get the headlight wiring in and through the rubber sleeves. Seems a real tight fit. I messed around for a few minutes with it and it seemed real tough.
Thanks |

Ya I have been watching that post as well and was bummed to crawl under my car and see the shock mounts on the longer arms do not match up. I believe I have a work around and will share when I get there. My focus has been on this damn fiberglass dash. SHould be done next week. [/quote] |

Been working away putting on the hardware. Installed fuel tank tonight and took it for a drive around the yard and up the road. Feels great to drive. Still needs some tweaking, and the front fenders and lights need to go on. I have an external oil filter hanging underneath and wanted to mount it in the engine compartment on the left hand side, attaching it to the old oil filter mount. I will need to drill holes and bring the hoses through the tin. Anyone know of any grommets that I could use to put the hoses through. Or, what are you guys using for this??
Thanks |

Im stoked on this project!
I have a 74' as well, I had some of the same issues messing with my front adjusters, rethinking it for hours before doing the final welding. I should have looked into the hook stops before I remounted my beam. I have Bilstein 7100s that just arrived last week, can't wait to throw them on.
What size are your tires and did you have to do any body lift to clearance them?
Im looking into either Yokohama, BFG, or the General Tires all terrains. I'd like to do 31's. |

Hey Devin. Glad you are stoked. I have 205/75/15's on. No body lift and absolutely no problem with clearance. I thought about the bigger tires as well but then a body lift would be needed, which means steering mods, longer brake cables and some other stuff to deal with. I also wanted to keep my stock tranny for now. After all the reading I have done and if I had to do it again I would probably start with raised spindles. Seems like an easy way to get lift and not max your balljoints. I like what Sam W is doing with his thing. May consider taking them off and sending tbem away to get them raised this winter. I will be rallying on logging roads to get to the tops of bike trails, and the roads are in pretty good shape. This will also be a driver so I didn't want a full offroader. Fun offroad as well as highway. Let's see some pics of your ride. |

I have got most of my wiring figured out. I have to replace the small bulbs in the speedo but everything is working except fuel gauge. I am using a test light and getting power to everything, except the brown wire and terminal which goes from the fuel guage to fuel tank. New float and assembly on tank. Any suggestions or is my gauge done?
Thanks |
