Was that when he came to Syncro Solstice and handed out VHS copies of Bosom Buddies to everyone? That was awesome! Very Happy

Good pointer. What would you use if the undercarriage was sprayed with POR-15?

You posted the pics in the "custom camper interior" thread, one of my favorite threads so I remembered... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5778283

Wow, I thought Hans was joking, hence my response! Very cool.

Thanks for the thread link! I would have never found it again and I need to study that thread again since I am thinking about moving around some stuff inside my van for more storage space. It's funny how much speculation and rumors there were about his van and when I posted the only pics of it, I guess no one believed me Razz We have his invoice hanging up in our lobby along with a photo of him in his van. I admit, I was sort of in awe (I mean it's Tom Hanks!), yet he was really, really nice guy.

Hans, were you able to find out who built out his van? The wood seems very custom, not like any of the European stuff I've seen and doesn't look like other GW vans. I've been wondering if he had it done somewhere up in Ketchum.

As far as I know, GoWesty did all the mechanical on it and delivered an empty van to someone else who finished the interior. It was really beautiful to look at but I'd probably destroy it with use. It was a weekender with nice custom stainless boxes for storage and had a cool slide out table out of the rear hatch. Seats and dash were amazing, love the box stitch!

It had a cool slide out rear table above the engine cover. Pics don't do it justice at all, it's a beautiful interior.

(I've also added the Letterman interview to the first post.)

It must be tough being such a well known celebrity and trying to remain anonymous while out having fun.

I wonder if he knows that all the Vanagon drivers are waving at the van and not at Tom Hanks? Very Happy

p.s. He's one of my favorite actors. With all the fun he brings to his characters you can tell he loves his job!

Looks like I have a couple more pics, and yes, at least it has A/C controls! I didn't want to post the outside of the van so he could at least have some anonymity. It would be great if he would share about his van for us, but I don't want to just blab about it, I just liked the interior so I shared it on that thead Smile . I wonder if he still has it?

while quite pretty I'm not sure I'd like to whack my head on that decorative wood roll bar by the headrests.

Hey Hans judging from the felt on the top, Toms rig had the top redone or it is an older Camper? We have questions that need answering. It is standard practice to get VIN, Date, Miles, and Contact info. Pull up his RO and give him a follow up call. That too is good practice! Or do what a kid at the BMW store did. He takes a photo of one of our local NFL football stars RO and car, with all the guys personal info and puts it on FACEBOOK. We find out about it because the players agent monitors all posts about the guy. Silly kid, good tech, socially not that smart, we couldn't keep him in the back after that one. I just asked the kid, you watch what this guy does to 300 pound bad asses on TV, and you go piss him off posting his # on facebook. Common sense, can it be learned? Post up old Toms bill, or get it to Wikileaks. I bet somebody on here will contact him. We have our own cast of characters here seeking celebrity. Please don't take me seriously when it comes to compromising somebodies anonymity. I'm joking, and like Tom Hanks.
