Damn! I did the same thing years ago before Barndoors were worth big bucks. This was a '53 Kombi. It was pretty rough but I bet someone would be restoring it if it were discovered today. Roof completely caved in and rusted through. Someone had also torched out the rear torsion bar housing from the frame. probably for a dune buggy or something. Please don't email me about the clip - I sold it years ago.

TOO ROUGH ?????
In todays BD terminology this is close to mint...
damnit, I also remember the days in the early nineties not buying any old split bus because of Dimesized holes in the doglegs or because it was only a Kombi or a highroof....JEEEEEZAS !!! _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !

This bus was at the Classic Expo in Salzburg/Austria this Oct.
Not much known about the car but upon examination it should be a 53 or 54 (Speedo, later style hindged front vent windows aso). Had DLX trim on it but probably added later, no trim on engine bay louvers and also had cardboard trim inside of what was left from the interior, no back seat.
chassis# unknown. Obviously factory rear hatch opening w/ recess for the rubber and latch, no upper door.

Arne, there are still several BD's with the rear hatch, if you got enough time, check the picture gallery on Tonny's site, barndoor.dk ... here's one that I saw on an old Belgian postcard... I think it's from a bakery, a delivery bus for bread: look on the inside, behind the rear hatch: that's bread, no??

Hi Arne,
here is one more Portuguese, a 1952 panel:
The lower edge of the hatch looks as it had been modified as it is going into buses beltline.
