A friend of mine sold his 54 Panel and he gave this blind Hatch into the deal! Perhaps i can buy it back!
Does anybody know at which ch. number they started with the second hatch?
Was it available right from the start in 1950?
Kind Regards,Arne

I'm sorry but I have to edit my comment on this bus. Finally finding out about it's owner, he says it's a factory panel with cut window and hatch openings.
Still a great bus to be saved and put back on the road !

Not much known about the car but upon examination it should be a 53 or 54 (Speedo, later style hindged front vent windows aso). Had DLX trim on it but probably added later, no trim on engine bay louvers and also had cardboard trim inside of what was left from the interior, no back seat.
chassis# unknown. Obviously factory rear hatch opening w/ recess for the rubber and latch, no upper door.

Nah..I'm not so sure if it is homemade, 'cause it is made to good. I mean it doesn't match the original att all, but why should someone put their angle grinder or ac/oxy torch in their not so old vw(been in the woods since 60's aprox.) ?? The car has been a store car, or bread-car if u like.. It has certainly been used to drive goods home to people around town, so the extra hatch has it's advantage...

Jeje I guess I will never find out this little "mystery" but I will soon order the birth papers from wolfsburg.
Mayby I will post some more detail pichers of the hatch, there are som woodstuff around the window opening also, and the handle isn't too far from orginal-ish?

But even if the hatch is homemade I will definately keep it on the car through/after restoration, somehow it is part of the bd's history... if he only could speak.. Rolling Eyes
