Great Grandfather was Irish and his name was John but he spelled it Jno, is that an old time Irish or may be Gaelic way of spelling John? _________________ 73 Super Beetle, 4 speed

No it was not abbreviated he always spelled his name Jno, I have his old front door name plate and its Jno, strange I was hoping someone in Ireland would have a logical answer for the strange way of spelling John...

The Irish for John is Seán. Never saw or heard of Jno. What was his last name? Maybe it is his initials? _________________ Mike B.

| Never seen John spelt like that before. Have seen it spelt Jon though but never Jno |
