I do't see why you couldn't use the T-IV system. it's quite sufficient and if the Alt belt breaks it'll still cool the engine.
Dna in NY.

If space is an issue, you could extend the rear section of your rail. That would be alot cheaper than converting to upright. |

I'm in the process of putting a porsche 1.7 into a sandrail.
Several things to consider.
The cooling will make the engine longer than the upright style. I.m not sure but 6" I think. Because of this I have to fab the rear cage for the extra length.
Word of advise, do not weld the rear of the cage until you have the engine and exhaust in place.
The exhaust is another problem. I took an exhaust from a 411 and removed the outer casing.

works w/ stock cooling, doesn't work with single carb

I've had good luck with the stock type 4 cooling. But it is longer and lower and will decrease your exit angle.
love the power though...
if there was no cost involved I would convert to T-1 cooling. _________________ pax

I have reasons for not liking the T4 fan it’s long and heavy, its low down sucking in dirt and just a bit ugly.
The Porsche fan looks nice but again with the fan at the back will suck in mud and dirt. TheT1 type fan I thought is a bit more out of the way. So I think I’ve answered my own question |
