I was driving my 74 thing today and on the highway and it just started to slow down...
i stoped and played with the fuel filter sparyed some seafoam in the carb just for extra joy.. and it ran great for 10ish miles. then it boged again..
stoped and got a tow home..
got home and played with the igntion... changed spark plugs... checked timing...
went driving.. 1st ran like a beast... 2nd voom voom voom... 3rd.. getting there now... 4th boggggggedd dead...
well limped back home..
checked compression cylinder 1 was 60 psi cylinder 2 was 90 cylinder 4 120...
so what could the problem be?
rings? valves? i thought it could be the tappers but that would make it high... i never seen them tighten them selfs up... i seen them fly off...
well thank yall for reading this...

Your fuel pump might be wearing out, if not starting at the fuel tank, check the 'sock' in the tank, any filters in the fuel line. Sounds to me you're running out of fuel. _________________ Rest In Peace HamburgerBrad, we will never forget you!

Worn rings, distorted cylinder, valve(s)...
How did all of the plugs look? Is there evidence that cyl #1 was misfiring, possibly wearing early due to fuel wash? Or perhaps there was an intake leak to that cylinder and it actually ran too hot for a spell...

For crying out loud. We are going to end up tearing into this motor we keep this up.
You got a dirty fuel line, filter or both.
This is an intermittent fuel delivery problem. By the time you get to 4th gear....you are out of fuel.
I will be that when you do get to 4th and bogged down or motor stops running that the fuel bowl is empty.
YOure compression is not the greatest but you have compression. And low compression does not give you intermittent problems. It will problem all the time.
Maybe it is time to clean out your tank or lines. You know there is a brass filter in the tank. |
