The S emblem is not connected to the SUPER 90 emblem. I am guessing the S is an add on. Owner says it is real.
What emlem should be on the rear if it is a real super?
|
The "Super 90" badge is only found on '60 and '61, single grille 356Bs. A T-6 ('62-'63) Super would have the "Porsche" badge where the "Super 90" is located, not on the engine lid. If the car originally came with a Super (not Super 90) engine, the "S" is correct (occasionally a "75" was installed instead of the "S", but these are rare). _________________ Thanks,

Maybe I am dense but I can't understand clearly what a 62-63 super 90 should have for emblems. I think you are saying it should have nothing on engine lid. OK got that. It should say PORSCHE under decklid with ???
The only pic I have right now of interior. Engine lid wouldn't open, so I didn't get a peek. Ran when parked.

janerick3 is partially correct. A normal would have a "60" badge, a super has an "S" and a super 90 would have a "90", all to the right of the PORSCHE script. |

OK now I think I get it. thanks jacks. I would guess then that the S is correct, the SUPER 90 is wrong, and PORSCHE should be in front of the S.
Now the best way to figure out what is there BEFORE I offer $$$. |

nice find, the 916 is the real find if its legit
62/63 b cars are the fatchicks of the 356 world, the frumpy body with the old hardware, the 64/65 cars are the only t6s to get excited about, just because they are fatchicks doesnt mean they arent fun,but they dont often hold out well valuewise compared to its t5 or 64/65 t6 brethren _________________ Have a great day! |

I don't know about that. That is not the first time I have heard that opinions, though it doesn't seem to affect their value too much. |

I'd have to agree, having gone through a handful of 356s.
First and foremost are the Pre-A 356.
Next, the 356A, very sweet and more sophisticated than the Pre-A, but it's impossible to argue against the Pre-A body style.
Then, the last of the 356C, the 1965, a '64 will work, but the 1965SC is the champ. VERY modern feeling cars with some of the early charm of the 356 left in. The bumpers ARE a problem though, kinda large and heavy and the clearanced indents in the rear of the body sides are sort of an eye sore.
Last, and ONLY if it's the only 356 around and dirt cheap is the 356B. Just a tired fat old whore. Old mechanicals and a dumpy late model body, over worked dash board, BLACK knobs, ugly steering wheel, bulky puffy seats, those big 'ol bumpers, underpowered, under braked, over sprung. Look elsewhere for one of the prime models unless this one is a COMPLETE bargain. And even then, look to trade up to something else at your first opportunity. Money put into a 356B is wasted coin, completely. |

b coupes in general are the bottom barrel 356 valuewise, thats really not arguable, does that mean they suck? hell no,the t5s are actually a really nice looking/handling car, when t6 happened it was much like a beetle becoming a super beetle _________________ Have a great day! |

You REALLY like the looks? If you owned one as your only 356, you wouldn't always be looking for an A or SC? Wouldn't you double-think every dollar that you put into it thinking that its sort of wasted when it could be better spent on another year/model 356?
I sure would. No question, unless I was fixing it up on the cheap to sell it in favor of another model. |

yes t5s are good looking cars,in 356 world its not always earlier is better as in vw world,i agree pre a cars look more aesthetically pleasing, but they drive like a vw compared to the later 356s,all this talk of value is something that could totally change in the next 10 yrs _________________ Have a great day! |

Any big rear window 356 is a fat chick on my eyes. I like the early 60-61 b's.
That being said it's hard to look over the mechanical superiority of the C.
Moot point to me as I have a 68 911 that kicks any 356 dead in the ass! I have a 64 sunroof beetle for my flat4 fix. _________________ Mike

So, I guess if a B is the fat chick of the 356 world then that makes my 912 a Vanagon |

Might not get to eager on 356. If I can get a real smokin' deal of course I will get it. I am very realistic on what this fatchick will need. That being said I will most likely save money for a more desiarable or more documented example.
PS- Every FATCHICK I have fucked, fuck like it is their last time. |

well, actually i think the pre 68 "flat sided" 912/911s have a sexyness all their own,if given the choice on a monetary basis i would choose a 356 no matter what.......but between a fatty b and a early 912 i choose the 912,they are one of the funnest, well built and refined flat4s ever
hard to say where it falls into the "fatchickness" theory.....actually now that i think about it,"fatchick isnt apropos for t6 cars, they are still 356s,so i think since buses didnt become fatchicks until a serious facelift, the porsche should also become fatchick in 65 with the 911/912
-356 = sexy

-356t5=fatass
-356t6=balloonbutt
