im in the process of starting a new baja project and i definately want to do a water pumper. my question is i have a friend with a 2.5 in his pre-runner s-10 that he is about to scrap he took all of the smog stuff off of it and alot of extra wiring exc. and it runs great and very strong with a decent amount of torque in the truck turning 33's im thinking in a baja bug it should work pretty well. i have done some searches and havent found any info on anyone doing this swap....has anyone done it? is it a pretty heavy engine? i could pick up all the wiring computer and engine pretty cheap from him. any info advise or pictures would be great. thanks.

My brother has a GM 2.5 in a boat. The engine is heavy, it is all cast iron. I would go with some thing lighter.

If I remember correctly, the 2.5L chev is half of a 305. Unfortunatly, it weighs almost 2/3 as much as the small-block. Good boat motor. My dad has one in 120hp mercruiser form.

Would be interesting trying to drive with that much iron hanging off the back. Probably would understeer like mad if you touched the throttle.
