Why are there two brake switches?

I need to replace both as I tested each and they are both bad. Are there any brands that are better than others? They all look the same to me other than mine are three prong.

Can anyone suggest a high quality replacement?

Also, when I remove them will this introduce air into the lines?

Thanks.

I just did this last week Smile

I just got the regular units from Autopart International as they are in my building here. One switch is the backup if one fails. Seems silly as you never know when one has gone and you're on the backup LOL.

I just did it quickly and had no bleed after.

Sorry to hi-jack, but what about a mechanical switch at the pedal?
