Ok. So I've nearly finished installing my engine after a few
months without my van, ( first time doing any major engine work) I basicly just resealed it, new headgaskets, seals, piston rings, fuel lines, new radiator and hoses, the list goes on. Anyway I decided to remove the ac compresor and bracket along with the condensor in front. My question is what to do with the hoses, should I plug them? I don't really want to remove them as I will probably refurbish the ac system somewhere down the road when time and money allow. Also I was curious about the wireing conections namely the conection at the alternator, do I still need this? Does it power anything els or can I leave it disconected?

mostly Im hoping someone can help me with the wire from the alternator to the ac. Do I need to reconnect it if I'm not going to be running a compresser anymore?

I'd unhook the powerwire from the alt... it isnt fused at the alt and I can tell you from first hand experience how much smoke can come off that wire when shorted out Shocked

The fat wire from the alt only powers the AC equipment, so you can leave it off if you don't want any of it working. I have the overhead GL system and I find the evap fans in the rear are great for moving air around the cabin and make a nice breeze on my face even without any cooling added, so you may consider that; those fans run off that power lead. If not, just tuck it up out of the way inside the rear pillar cover with the rest of the switchgear there.

If you're considering putting the AC back into use someday then by all means you should cap the ends of the hoses to keep dirt and water out.
