If you'd said it was 40 years ago there is nothing in the shots that would contradict that statement. A truly timeless sort of fun. |

For the life of me I can't find it however one of the first manxters was featured in a BFG ad. It's the yellow one in the Manxter ad but the picture was perfect. Perfect stance, nice filter use and it really convinced me to look for a pair of Jackman rims for mine.
It was similar to this pic, but it had the color matched jackmans on it.
It was the first pic i had ever seen of the Manxter and ruined me.! |
Was it the Manxter Race Car ?

I know I'm bringing up an old thread, but I want to give credit where credit is due. These guys and their buggies were MY inspiration. Kudos to y'all

I loved slammed street buggies. My drag buggy had a raised frame head and raised trans. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

I am of two minds on the side pods. On the one hand they make for a much cleaner look and would be a great place to hide extra fuel capacity. On the other they modernize the appearance and I am a fan of the original simple Beach Buggy look. _________________ We had the stone age, the bronze age, the industrial age and now we are in the age of mass deception and mind control for corporate profit. I could post any number of pics but they would likely get pulled for not having a VW in them.
My inspiration is from any number of the T-buckets of the '50's and '60's. Kookie-T would be one example, but there are a many more. I have the exposed wide-5 drums from the vintage street rod habit of running Ford wide-5 drum brakes. I could also cover my steel wheels with smoothie hubcaps, another vintage look. I enjoy the outlandish, and cartoonish, styling of Uncertain-T too. A cartoon effect is certainly a part Berry Mini-T. It's windshield is also wider at the top than bottom! It borrows some of that built-into-body rake too.
My underlying desire to own a Berry Mini-T came from a library book from my youth, "Dune Buggies" by Gary Gladstone. Here is a really good preview of the book by Typ3nut. I have bought my own copy of that book, in fact it was one retired from another US library. _________________
