I spent a night in Klamath, as an emergency pit stop. I was driving a baja from Wa state to San Diego. just the night before, I had to run to seattle to buy a random shortblock from a guy that raced pintos "the rods felt OK' as I had sunk the valves on my (JIM LUCCA IVW 1776) on a patch of ice) the night before I wanted to go back to SD. I had an extra set of 1600 heads, nothing to repair my 1776. A scary rebuild on a shortblock from hell resulted in a trip home Wink I had cut the firewall out to fit CNC pedals (smart CA guy right) and lost feeling in my feet and could no longer feel the throttle, (frostbite) so I could not maintain speed. A wonderful woman let me in for a night at the motel to warm up. I will forever love Oregon for their hospitality. The gas stations are another story...hard to watch the wonderful gas station woman pump 10 bucks on the ground as you try to explain the vent on the top of an early stock dub tank Idea I will forever love the fuel cell Wink

yeah they still won't let you fill up your own tank up here, The only draw back of oregon I know of. My favorite thing is no sales tax, when something is 99 cents you pay a dollar and get a penny back.

As soon as they see the gas fill under the hood, they are more then happy to let me fill it myself.

I am in Eureka, Ca. an hour and a half from the Oregon border. Originally from Dunsmuir, Ca., an hour from the border on I-5. I hit the Dunes several times a year. I run and older sandrail.

I run around the Ashland/Medford area. Lots of snow and backwoods roads to play on. For now at least. Rolling Eyes

I Grew up in Gresham, drove a 64 Baja for 2 years, then sold it when I joined the Navy. Plan on moving back in a few years when I get out, But might settle in Washington instead. Currently rocking the Thing, that should be moving with me later this year to Washington. Hopefully be able to make a few trips with her next year.
