mac intosh, thank you for continuing to post such fascinating and excellent info.
what is the story with DIN spanners? have a couple, some marked Hazet and DIN ### and others that look identical just marked DIN ###?
I had always assumed it was some sort of tool specification standard used on tools where the makers name wasn't always stamped ie government/military/vehicle tool kits??? |

You're welcome, I like to research and dig around
"DIN" = Deutsches Institut für Normung --> German Institute for Standardization
(... yeah, we're really bureaucrats ...)
These DIN spanners have to be in a normed size and sustain a normed torque, mostly made or demanded for machinery (heavy duty stuff).
Assumed you get a lathe or a drill press, it can be delivered with such a standard spanner or it's recommended in the instruction manual.
The specifications are more or less public and several named and no-named companies produce them. |

I get it this week, is it a 1160? I thought 1100 series stands for 1" but there 3/4" in it.

Nice mint condition inside!
It's a 1100 (later Nr. 1500) for tractors. As it seems, the 1" sizes were first introduced in 1967. |

http://www.hazet.de/de/home/my-hazet/hazet-in-der-historie/ --> Katalog 1963, page 34 for example.
But your box seems to be newer, like these after the logo-change in 1965. Maybe a late '64 model or they saved costs for new pictures in that time... |

Old socket set in wooden box from the 20's (?). The adjustable wrench doesn't fit exactly into the lid. Maybe someone can tell me the proper wrench that belongs into it.
Unfortunately the sticker on the top is nearly gone.

Hi germanBay,
it should be the No. 179 wrench, because once I got a similar box and had to find one, too.
I got it from ebay UK and in ebay France there are some on auction from time to time...
Your box is definitively from the 20s! I´m still searching for a catalog from this period, if there was one anyway.
No. 176 unlikely:
No. 178/179:
The sticker might have looked something like this, but it´s on the side of my box, so probably a different shape:
Maybe this:

Bought a small Tool Chest this week, late 50's. Unfortunally it's repainted some time ago, but going to restore it like the large Tool Chest I already have.
Both looking great !

Thanks for your advices. Unfortunately this one doesn't fit either. Could be tough to find the right one.

So I think I would be willing to cut off one of my digits in exchange for BlueHazet's work bench pictured above
As most people know, I'm a jeweler and VW enthusiast. I'm always looking for new creative ways to combine the two. Around a year ago I purchased a bunch of these little HAZET wrenches and I'm finally getting around to making some rings. (you could do it too.) Would anyone have interest in these? Seems like I might owe one to a few of the people on here anyway.
The larger ring is a 450n 4/5mm (I only have two of this style). The smaller ring is a 440 3.2mm electric. I could play around with the finishes. Seems like they could be blued like pictured, rusted, or polished.
