Recently found this 16" Hazet Tourist box in amazing original condition with ALL correct tools intact.This box dates from 1951 to possibly early 1952 as it already has the narrow full circle ring in back (wide ring in only the earliest version) with "Patent angem." or patent pending stamped (earliest version does not have this text) and lid decal inside (some claim lid decal came in October 1950). It even has the early "U" underlined versions and impossible to find small wrenches and yellow tip screwdrivers intact. Please note the crude factory finish on the 772/2 bend.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a Hazet 804 box for sale locally, here on the west coast of Canada.

He was asking $350 Cdn for the box, and $150 Cdn for the tools. Got it all for $400 Cdn.
I'm OK with that.

awesome deal !!!!

I was searching an out of state craigslist ad looking for a beetle for someone when I came across a hazet VW tool kit for $125, ad was placed that day in fact.... twas meant to be, so I contacted seller and he was willing to ship, happily paid full price of course..

will post pics when I get it... super stoked as I've wanted one for years...

Here's the kit I found on CL while helping a fellow Sambanista browse his surrounding area in Ohio for a beetle..... Seller had no problem shipping and I scored bigtime...... Shocked

Was his brothers kit when he owned a VW over 40 yrs ago, been sitting in the garage ever since.. Funny thing I didn't notice from his ad was the $15 price tag where it appears at one time they tried to sell it at a garage sale.. Shocked

A while back I purchased this tool box with a lot of other VW parts & some other Hazet tools. I think it is an 804. I have also been trying to figure out what year range it is. I think it is a 1940's because of the early logo stamped and painted on the inside & out, handle & hinge style, & the lock area. I have not been able to find another that looks exactly the same though from searching all of the pics on Google & here on this site.

Any ideas what year its from? Late 50s, early 60s? Old logo, and all steel inserts.

I was happy to find a 60 piece 3/8" drive set on eBay, at a price less than the new ones go for... and less than this one is valued at new, in today's dollars.
A lot of it is still like new.

A cool little piece I don't believe the newer sets have... is the super wide slotted screwdriver bit for oil pressure/relief valves.

It's big "A", so I looked at the 1965 catalog & found it.
Decal inside is the only small "a" thing about it.
1965 catalog price: 360.80 Swiss francs

In 1965, 360.80 CHF = $83.20 set
