SG-code keys were used from 1954-59. Being a T-handle, it fits only Beetle decklids.
Of course it'll fit any decklid built before 1965 _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

Not 100% positive, but I'm sure those handles are 1954-55 Type 2 _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

Those handles look just like my original zwitter ones but I have a G code key for my driver door.
I believe that smooth outer side handle was used through 1955.

Paul, can you post pics of your handles if they are off the car? can you post a pic of your key (both sides)? _________________

The L part numbers say they were made before 55. The SG key says after Jan 1, 54.
Your Tee handle is after late 54 due to the 9 digit part number, but before 1960.
The key shape is pre-56ish.
All of these handles could have been from the same car since the switchover to the 9 digit part numbers didn't all happen on the same day. The changeover occured over several months. _________________

There was no mention of door handles or T handle being replaced, |
The T handle could have been an upgrade that happened later. Did Zwitters come with a locker?
There's no way a T handle with a 9 digit part number could have been factory installed on a late 52 when those part numbers didn't exist until about a year and a half later. _________________

Not 100% positive, but I'm sure those handles are 1954-55 Type 2 |
I would like to see the back sides.
For reference, 54-55 Barndoor Buses use AL 211 051/052 handles. Not 100% sure if that is the same for later '55 Buses.
54-55 Buses do not use an SG key code. _________________ How to Post Photos

When the later Busses got this type of handle with the 9 digit part numbers, they were 211 837 205 & 206. The number was different due to the use of a Bus key which is different from a Bug key. _________________

THAT LOCK HAS FOUR TUMBLERS AND THAT MAKES IT A "G" KEY TYPE...WHILE THE "SG" TYPE STARTED IN 1954 HAD 5 TUMBLERS |

That is correct. The G key may be shorter.
In this pic, the common SG blank is above. I suspect the blank at the bottom is a Zwitter G blank.
BTW, Caps Lock OFF! _________________

Okay digging this forum out of the grave a bit but I didn't want to start a new topic and I find to multiple searches for my answers but I was only left with assumptions and guesses fir answers.
Just for reference I looked at this forum too... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=240700&highlight=l211+052
So here is my story and my questions. I picked up a couple of complete ribbed doors 53-55 but when I disassembled them to get the parts for my '55 I needed I noticed the handles to be quite different. The obvious KDF logo'd handle and the other (passenger side). So my question is what year are these correct for? Split beetle or bus or both? And is the KDF one different years than the non KDF one? Just love learning this stuff so I know what to look out for in the future.
I'll also most likely be posting these in the classified and I don't want to miss represent them in description or price.
Thanks all, and thanks for all the great reading in the other posts, I enjoy it al, so much.
