Love the wheels! Keep the updates coming!!
Had the same thought when I bought my '67 912. First thing I did was look for period correct aftermarket wheels; and then of course lowered the car a little...

But I thought they might look good and be a part of the future development of the car as David Small might have developed it through the 60's...

They look a bit like og magnesium BRMs - not bad for a fiver I'd say and suit the car down to the ground - good score! |

sorry for the delay in updating on progress. finally got one side mocked up with the final panels. oddly the car looks a lot flatter in the photos than it does in real life. I masked the roof to take off the primer and leave a stripe, but then liked the look so left it, as it makes the roof of the car smaller relative to the rest of the bodywork. now finalising details like the vent, shut lines and headlamp and foglamp positions. enjoy....

I think the finished car is going to look sensational Steve. I think the shape from every angle looks beautiful.
If anyone took on a project of making VW based fibreglass replicas they would sell very well. _________________ John.

I suppose it's been a project for about 50 years now so another few years won't hurt
On a serious note it would be great to see it at The VolksWorld show this year as it is, much like we saw Martin Fenner's rhd Oval Kabriolet a couple of years ago whilst halfway through it's restoration...

Hmmm, already have two cars going into the show! A third would be a bit overkill I think!!! |

I always get a big smile on my face when I see there's a new post in this thread.
I love watching the work being done on this project, it's very inspirational. |

Has David Small seen the car as it stands now? I'm sure he'd be excited to see the car in it's nearly complete state! _________________ Vehicles I have:

You guys gave me a false alert! I love this car! Some day I dream to build a similarly mid-engined hand built car. I really want to learn to meld sheet metal like this. _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=366056 - My '73 Super Build. 2332cc, 16" Fuchs |
