You have to love Johnny Cash. I doubt he swapped toil for moil. I wonder who edited his version? Moil was new to me? I haven't spent much time with the miners. |

Picked up 21 beautifully made tops from Terry, our fabricator, today. All 21 stacked nicely on the trailer and the load travelled perfectly on the 120km trip back to Toronto.
The tops of this shipment are destined for Cincinnati, Springdale Arkansas, Colorado Springs, Sebastopol Ca., Vancouver Wa and Kennewick Wa.
Soon 21 more hightops on the road.
Production pricing will be in effect until the end of March. _________________ NAHT hightop availability May 18 2023 -

I've been back a week now from another epic road trip dropping off tops. Joel Lane, I, and Mike Shaffer transferred the "saddle" and 10 tops from my trailer to his at Joel Lane's shop.
Mike left to continue the delivery run to Sebastopol Ca, Vancouver Wa. and home in Kennewick Wa.
Mike's van and trailer:
All is well and all installer/distributors now have a supply of tops. As the tops make their way through the install process I'm sure that there'll be lots more pictures. _________________ NAHT hightop availability May 18 2023 -

I got to see Mike and his conversion when he drove through my town. Definitely got me thinking about a tintop conversion soon! _________________ 1986 Canadian Syncro Westy TDI - 1989 Syncro Single Cab - 2001 Audi S4 - 1981 VW Caddy ABA - 1980 VW Caddy EV - 1973 VW T-181 |

As a High top owner over here in England I am sure some of you new high top owners have thought about solar power.
I can say that high tops lend themselves very easily to a large solar panel array.
I have one I fitted to mine., 150 watt.
It heats the water for the shower too.
No more shore power for me with my little power station on the roof.
french aire..
fully tilting in any direction, I can catch rays from sunrise to sun set.
folds neatly down

I had tilting racking like that and it worked quite well. However with the availability of thin, lightweight flexible panels now I really like the concept of simply placing the panel for maximum exposure, virtually anywhere.
Some great pics in this threadhttp://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=605745&highlight=flexible+solar _________________ NAHT hightop availability May 18 2023 -

|
|
Hi John, a little update on SupaZ as promised. some of you may know SupaZ as Zeno. heres what's been going on lately. full interior and exterior paint in Audi Samoa orange, NA diesel replaced with m-TDI, rebuilt trans w/ 4.14 RP 5 speed w/ LLSD from AA trans, custom dash with Speedhut gauges and centre console (temp), in dash AC, front and rear bumpers w/ tire carrier and jerry can tray from RMW, SA headlight conversion, big brake conversion w/ ss lines, 2" lift, 29" nokian rotiiva tires and merc wheels... too much to list.. still lots to do! eventually, when everything is done, i plan on doing a proper write up and post some good pics. at the moment, I'm nowhere near the van, but i would like to thank all those who have helped me along the way to get to this point... John Charlton, Rocky Mountain Westy, AA trans, Speedhut, Quality German auto parts and all those who have put their .02c in! thanks for all your help!

Beautiful!
When you have time, would love more info on the custom dash pod; which gauges, how hooked up, etc? _________________ Currently:

thanks! which custom dash pod? the main console or the one that fits in the ash tray? in any case, the main console one was custom made by Rocky Mountain Westy, as well as the ash tray pod holder. They did RND in order to offer this in the future as they really like the gauges i sourced. you can get in touch with them regarding both items.
as for the gauges themselves, i ordered them myself from Speedhut.com. really great stuff, and like all great stuff comes great cost! not the cheapest, but definitely the most customizable i have found. the 3 larger main console gauges are 4", which is what is needed if you want to do the same. the larger ones wont fit. the 3 ash tray gauges are 2-1/16".
the 4" quad gauge was really handy. Oil psi, Water Temp Metric, Fuel Level, Volts all in one gauge. the speedo works by gps, so no need to tie into the vehicle. tach is a diesel tach so plugs right in. the rest are just sensors you need to run to the appropriate areas.
hope this helps! pm me if you need additional specifics |
