Well the cats out of the bag so here are some pics of this 80`s flash back. The car runs really hard and sounds and handles like it was only meant for the track but this is a street car and will hit the streets bringing nostalgia to those who remember. Thanks for all your help to those involved in building and getting it to the classic! Driving these cars a long time ago and jumping in it now you have to remind yourself to respect the power these cars have to be safe on the roads.

What are the current engine specs? Any future plans for a return to turbo power?

This time around it has a 2276CC stroker with some very cool internals. Driving it you can clearly tell its way over powered for the street but that`s how it is. The trans running chromoly axles is the very same one the car had while racing and still pulls very hard built by Mauricio in the mid 80`s who was the mechanic for both BT and BTII. Other then a oil flush and new oil plus axle seals / throw out bearing it runs perfect. Was told by the trans builder ( Mauricio) I could stick a V8 on it and will still hold up but I wont try that. We have also been talking about building an exact replica of the same 2110 Turbo the car had before the car disappeared from the seen.

Right on, sounds like fun! I'm working on a traditional old school Cal Look 2017 build right now... looking forward to having it finished so I can focus on the rest of the car. lol.

Another OG Carlos C. from Huntington Park..........We go all the way back to 1980-81 messing with our VW's...........The pic on the left was taken early 80's in H.P.......the pic on the right is his current Turbo powered race VW based out of Vegas. Carlos was all over the house party, Cruising, Cha-Cha disco dance scene back in the day.

Man!! I had forgot about the whistle that was the rage in the 80's until one of the guys on our FB LA 80's page mentioned it. What a trip!! In my neighborhood of Huntington Park it seemed all the Vdubs tweeked their fan shroud & even one VW club it was a requirement!!.......some were annoyingly loud and some were just right......you had to trial & error the vane distance to the fan when you tweeked it......I remember one guy had me tweek his shroud like 4 or 5 times just to get the right level of whistle he wanted!! I didn't care cause he was payin every time I took off that shroud.......Imagine if the youngins brought the whistle back!!

Recently I saw this ghia in Az that had the whistle going....It was just right too. I almost wrecked in shock.. It was a nice ghia and the dude was fairly young too. he was turning left and so was I and i tried to turn around just to ask him how he knew about the whistle but i couldnt catch him. it had been sooooo long since i had heard that whistle ...

Unique to our Latino Neighborhoods in LA were the Logo VDubs......

In Latino neighborhoods of Los Angeles in the mid 1980’s at a time when every teenager owned or dreamed to own a Volkswagen there was a trend among the cruisers, racers & cal-style Volkswagens of having brightly colored VW’s that were themed with detailed logos and scripts. Los Angeles, & Hollywood being the media capital of the world, it was only fitting that we would be influenced by the studios cartoon & movie characters by having detailed script and images painted on the sides & deck lids of VW’s built during this period, we like to call the 80’s LA Logo era. The first VW that I remember seeing in LA with writing on the side not on a full drag strip VW was a street racer called Lil Dreamer soon after there was logo’d VW’s called Baboom, Ragberry, Pink Panther, Bad Temper, Bad Temper II, Radical Rag, Suicide Solution, Gumby themed, The Blockheads themed, Marvin the Martian, a Ratfink Rat themed, and a Casper the ghost themed were just a few of the Logo’d VW’s I remember cruising and racing in the streets everywhere in LA during this period. The Logo’d cars usually would have the name of the LA neighborhood they were from lettered somewhere usually on the fenders and the majority of them were Logo'd by Danny A. Designs

A mini time line Logo'd VW's
