Who cares what year it is you stock nutsy.

He did a very nice job on the bug and I wouldn't change a thing. He built the car to please himself just like the rest of us built ours.

After a crapload of problems with my engine/adjustments/wiring, i was finally able to make my first real cruise last friday!

Problems with the engine were really frustrating, after driving the car for 15-20 minutes it begins to run shite. Misfiring, too much fuel, you name it, i've had it. Because i have rebuilt the engine myself and because it was my first time to do something like that, I figured I maybe did something wrong. So i took out the engine and put a sweet running engine back in, hoping it would solve my problems! But no luck at all, still running shite... Checked all my wiring, without any luck. Checked all the fuelhoses from the tank to my carburator, replaced all the rubber ones, cleaned the tank etc., still no luck. No idea what it could be, engine runs smoothly in the first few kilometers/minutes.

Seems like it magically fixed itself, because it works like a charm now. I have changed so many things over the past 2 months, that i have no idea what it was that did the trick. But hey, it works!

Great car and good on you for doing these things yourself, its the only way to learn even though sometimes we dont do it right, its fun anyway, you really get to know your car. My '63 (YES '63) Ruby Red beetle is slowly getting the same treatment but as shes my daily driver its a little hard to take her off the road for long periods of time for major work.
I hope to have her in the same condition as yours one day, I may even get some 5 spokes and paint them white HAHA
