Just an update to keep my samba friends happy.

Got some new wheels. This helped handling and suspension action a bunch.

I drove to Owyhee (pronouced Hawaii, hard to get the effect in writing saying "I drove to Hawaii"), found some off roaders who like to off road for a change. Also met Steve Arndt who came out with us. His baja is not pictured here.

Broke the stub axle, but only found out after a while. I thought it was a loose shock or something and kept driving it. Shocked

I did get the windshield wipers fixed and converted them to a 12v armature... It was a poor ground that was the problem, I ran a dedicated ground and have never had an issue since. Also did some heater ducting to get good defrost and then drove the bug all through the winter.

Then I did some gas tank mods to extend my range (which was preceeded by me running out of gas and having to be towed home by my wife. This was scary enough that I decided to fix it once and for all). I now have 13ish usable gallons and will soon have a gas guage Laughing

So It's been a good time as always. Green bug is going strong with only upgrades planned. No real issues that weren't from abuse. It's been a daily driver for a long time now. Definitely worth the investment and gas milage seems to be staying 26-28mpg. Couldn't be happier from where I started with no skills or knowledge.

We are planning a four day 600 mile trip in eastern idaho this September. If you're in the area and want to go for a ride, let me know.

Thanks all for getting me started in the hobby.

Thanks no1clyde. Look forward to meeting you. I'm happy that you share in the enjoyment. Good luck with your ej22 conversion, feel free to ask questions. I will try to help where I can.
