Hello all,
I surf the vanagon forums every so often but don't really post here. I'm a bay guy.
I stumbled across this on the web this morning and thought you all might get a kick out of it.
It apparently started out as a factory specific model but got beat up over time so he added patina and a well-used look.
I'm not sure if you guys had seen this before or not, so I decided I'd post.
I dug it!

Yes, it definitely has that "Northwest Green Slime" look.
Pretty cool. Looks like a well loved toy. _________________ ~Annie

That's some nice work! (Except for the passenger's side mirror mounted on the driver's side.) _________________ Joe T.

No thats cool. the passenger side is missing so it was obviously used to replace the more important driver's side which got damaged in an "incident" That explains it as far as I am concerned _________________ -- 1987 Westfalia automatic (Captain Vino) |

I stand corrected! You're absolutely right. That is too funny. _________________ Joe T.

The shop rag in the gas tank is also a nice touch...
Kind of a molotov/vanagon cocktail.
Replacing the fuel lines on this one maybe the least of his concerns! _________________ williamtaylor33 said: "You'll have more stories to tell if you drive the vanagon..."

A little Penetrol will fix that top right up!!!
Great attention to detail, notice that the driver's side wiper is stripped out and now stuck in place. Typical!!! _________________ 1985 Westy, 1.9L automatic (Daisy)

Have you seen this?

There was one like it on eBay a couple weeks ago. It sold for around 40 or 50 bucks. Now reading this thread makes me wish I had let my inner-nerd win... _________________ '85 Syncro Westy |

Looks like those tires don't have the proper load rating. Are those 14mm rims? |

I just took a pitchfork and checked my basement garage and found my two Revell 1/24th scale model Westys are still there, waiting to someday be painted and assembled to match our '86 Westy camper. The plastic wrap on the boxes is still intact. One is air cooled, the other a water-leaker. Might be fun to make one a "before" version, and scrape up the sliding door and right rear wheel well. Wonder if there's a 90's Legacy model to serve as an engine donor. |

That is beautiful! I just missed one of those blue pop-top models at a VW show a couple years back. The guy got it for 20 bucks, wasn't put together, either. I did however find an air-cooled ambulance Vanagon. I want to figure out how to take it apart and make a mold of it. _________________ Current VW's:

Holy crap guys - your jedi powers of observation are wicked strong! If only you were using them to solve the worlds problems, rather than looking for coat hangers and misaligned wipers _________________ '84 Westy (first owner).......but my daily driver has pedals
