research data of an old Volkswagen vehicle from the vehicle database and to draw up a vehicle identity certificate with the recorded data.
The Vehicle Identification Numbers of the vehicle is as follows:
xxxxxx
The car is a 1951 deluxe beetle sunroof.
I understand the price for each certificate is 15 Euro. I understand you
take MasterCard and Visa. Accordingly, please charge my Visa card for the appropriate amount. My card number is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (expires xx/xx) _________________ .

Got it today! And, as far as I can tell, no extra charge for re-searching.
I do have a bunch of questions though, not sure if I should post them here on in the T3 forum...like Anyone know what a M-253 is? |
Shortly after getting this, I wrote Mr Doerk to ask him for clarification on a few things and to mention that my car appeared to come with cloth seats, not leatherette. He wrote me today to let me know that they looked again, and it was indeed cloth, and they would be making the correction and re-sending me the certificate.
I think that's pretty good service right there.. Just thought I'd share. |

Dear Mr. Clark,
thank you for your email.
In principle the Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen is pleased to research the data of your old Volkswagen from the vehicle data base and to draw up a birth certificate.
However, we are not able to research the data of your Volkswagen because the micro fiche regarding the chassis number of your car is crumbling and illegible.
We will recharge the amount of 50,00 € to your VISA account within the next few days.
We ask for your understanding.

Has anyone here received/seen a birth certificate with an incorrect model number? Or does that indicate that the vin is not correct for the car? (i.e. Model 113 instead of Model 143) _________________ Conrad @ Air Coolers VW Gang http://aircoolers.org

Greetings!
I just stumbled upon this page and the topic of VW Birth Certificates.
After a google search I got to this:
http://automuseum.volkswagen.de/index.php?id=12&L=1
That is the current "form" or method to request these. I notice the price is the same, still 50 Eur.
I hope to invest in one or more ... soon!

I just requested the birth certificate for my 1960 Karmann Ghia. I went to http://automuseum.volkswagen.de/urkunden.html?&L=1 and followed simple form instructions. I immediately received two emails. First was from the Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen to confirm certificate order and the second email was to confirm that my payment was successfully completed. I just went online to my bank and amount deducted was $68.43. I'm really excited as I am beginning restoration process on my car and this will just add as another cool touch to the cars history.

Disappointed! I requested a "Birth Certificate" from the VW Automuseum a few weeks ago. I just got an email from them saying the microfiche with my data is unreadable and therefore can not compile my info. They are refunding my fee. I was hoping to find more info on my bus other then M-code info. |

Unfortunately today the Birth Certificates are full of mistakes. Maybe that is due to the high volume of requests. Info is also omitted and time is not invested in trying to interpret "crumbling" documents.
It seems, that if you order the certificate in English, it is more likely to be inaccurate. I have experienced that before and so has many others. If you order it in German, it is easier for them to compile it and there will be less mistakes as they do not have to translate the info. It has also been my experience, that their English is very limited.
To order in German, just go to the same website in German and order the certificate, will automatically be generated in German. |

has anyone had any luck using body number, chassis number (on brake hose mount), or engine number? I have an original car with difficult to read VIN numbers.
is there anyway to link back to actual VIN?

I ordered mine on January 2nd. I've been communicating with Roswitha Hendel. She (?) tells me it now takes 12 weeks because a 4 person operation has now been whittled down to just a one person operation. _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat
