FYI only:

Requested birth cert in October 14, never received it. After couple months I sent note asking them for it, Roswitha Hendel replied saying they need 8 months to process this request!!! 8 months!!?

I ordered mine 8-17-14 and received it 4-6-15, so it took almost 8 months.

Volkswagen should give the records to The Samba. I bet EB could improve the turn around time on a certificate order - once the kinks were worked out.

Kickstart fund it - translation and digitizing .

I ordered one on April 7, 2015. I will post when I receive it. Paid by credit card.

I guarantee I could.

VW is a billion dollar company, they should throw more resources at this product.

Based on some posts, I'm hoping I'm getting close. I ordered a birth certificate for my '69 Westy on August 7th, 2014. So far, nothing.

I emailed Roswitha October 28th of last year and she said 6 months.

From initial date of order, it's been 8 months and still nothing. I'll keep waiting 'cause I've got no other choice. Sad

I would use the information in the first post of this thread, it was last updated in 2014.

If anyone has any updates to the information at the start of this thread, now or in the future, please contact me.

All of the other German car makers have a certain amount of respect for their customers, Mercedes will even make a part if they cannot source one. I remember parts, tools and manuals going into the trash when they abandoned the aircooled platform. Screw VWOA. Sad

I was about to order a certificate for my '58 however after reading this last page of posts I am having second thoughts. I think I will put a pin in it for now. Thanks for all the updates on your "struggles". It does seem that 8 months or more is a bit out of line to me.

Got mine today. Ordered August 7th, 2014. Took a heck of a long time, but I'm super happy.

Will I order again if I get a third VW? Definitely. I'll just order and forget, maybe set a calendar reminder for a year later to follow up. It's worth the wait, my VWs aren't going anywhere.

I guess I am luckier than I realized.
I don't see any need to buy (and wait for) a Birth Certificate. Fortunately the previous owner of my '66 Beetle had saved all of the documentation from the day the car drove away from Wolfsburg.

I agree that you are lucky.

My VW is pre-mcode plate and I found it in a field. I wonder to what destination city it was delivered and a host of other questions. You know how they get modified over the years...

I am very curious what is going to be returned on the form. The wait is turning out to be good entertainment.
