I'm a 66 so I'm younger than the beetle 61, the buggy 61, the micro 65, but older than the race car 70 and our everyday cars 04 Passat & 08 Eos _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

My Ghia is a '67 and I'm a '60. I am older, I feel rustier, and I'm not real happy about either! _________________ Mike

I was 9 when our long term project '54 Canadian standard beetle rolled off the assembly line.
22 when the tree fell across the roof smashing all the glass except the rear oval window
35 when I got that bug given to me
55 when I used the oval glass for our '57 beetle rear window that got pitted from the grinder sparks at the body shop
now it is "one of these days" project/parts car _________________ '57 type 1 Blackberry

Lets see,
I was 24, serving in the Navy, and stationed in Japan when my '63
15 window rolled off the line in February of 1963. Of course it didn't actually become mine 'till 1995. Bit of a story there, I was again in Japan, working
civil service for the Navy. My daughter, then in college sent photo's and I bought it without actually seeing it. Worked out pretty good. I've owned it 16 years now.
However, I was 27 and stationed at NAS Miramar in San Diego, when I got my new 1966 java green, sunroof bug from Truman Motors in El cajon, a suburb of San Diego in June that year. My first ever new car. I still own it and drive it. Life is good. |

Here in town there is a beautiful awesome '43 that had been delivered to Adolf. Same year vintage as you guys and myself.
Two big problems with it. First, it looks as immaculately fresh and perfect as new.
But the bigger issue is that it is so completely outdated and ancient looking, even compared to our VW's. _________________ 71 Superbug

I'm a 1959, and my current VWs are '63, '65, '66, '68, and '72- all Type 3s.
But since I was born in August, technically I'm a 1960 model! _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

@Tram: You and I are almost exactly the same age, and now I understand why you chose the Ernie Kovacs avatar! I remember being a little scared as well as fascinated by the Nairobi Trio routine as a very small child. Kovacs was dead by then; I wish I could recall the circumstances under which I first saw the Trio, but I do remember seeing it on my aunt's old DuMont teevee, which she got rid of in '65.
Only recently did I find out that in at least one version, Sinatra himself is the third trio member! You younger readers, if you've never seen the routine, wikipedia it.
I'm fifty and my bug is a '66 model. _________________ Trying to diagnose electrical problems without paying attention to what the red light is telling you is like trying to play the piano without using your hands. |

The same as on page 3. My buses and I seem to be aging at the same rate. |

Younger.
But as time goes on my buses are starting to look younger, and I'm looking older. Too bad we can't restore our bodies like our cars! |
