Yes, well, sort of. It's "done." Since I last posted I went through all the mechanical stuff, brake work, changing fluids, installing new shocks, lubing it, etc etc. I also buffed and polished the paint, installed the engine and generally tidyed it up. I still need to deal with a few mechanical problems but I have been driving it around the area. The vintage stroker pulls nicely and the split case trans works fine, though I have to get used to coming to a full stop before downshifting to first.
The bus is super tight, not a single rattle, tracks great (even with the all original tie rod ends) and is a blast to drive. Even the old man fan in it works.
Enjoy the pictures.
And here's the power plant. I think it is safe to say it is one of a kind: a vintage EMPI 36hp 69.5mm stroker crank with a vintage Rethwish dual carb kit, Porsche pre-A pulley, 010 distributor, Pre-A Porsche eight doweled flywheel.

if by "whoopin" you mean they deserve to be decapitated and have there head dried and shrunken, then hung from the bus's rear view mirror, then i agree

Just awesome. I love to see some of my stuff in a completed project. And that motor that thing is unbelievable. I'm thinking of doing the WW Okrasa kit for my barndoor. Yours looks awesome. I am jealous. Nice job! _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor

i have a question about the headliner installation. In the pic below ,is there a reason for the pleats in the corners of the side windows? Is it aesthetic or is it so you can make the tight corners w/o wrinkles? BTW great job on the bus.

Definitely 4 pieces there. You don't need to seam it to get in the corners, I just did one yesterday using only one big piece, you just cut out the center. They did it that way to save material, less waste. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Ok, my WW cloth headliner came with one big piece that I split in half lengthwise and is more than enough to do both sides. Each one ended up being 10 1/2' x 27" . I was going to do the cargo doors first since they seemed easiest. |

Can you tell us a few more engine tricks? Most 36 hp applications I've read about are beetle and I wonder about their suitability for a bus. What is the cam profile? How does it drive next to a fresh standard engine and perhaps a Judson engine?
The bus is awesome
Cheers
