|
|
Hi, hope you guys enjoy...
these are some prototypes being made here in Sao Paulo, Brazil by Chico-Biela...
Nexus-8, eight cylinders:
Nexus-6, six cylinders:
Nexus-2, two cylinders:
Origin of this milling machine is some how connected via the Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia of Brazil... This plate is a good omen for engines prototypes (chico's words)

The 6 and 8 cyl motors would be much easier with Type 4 heads. |

How do you get a suitable crankshaft? Tell me it's not 2x crankshaft welded together. _________________ Me messing with the transmission and stuff...(includes pictures and the whole 'story')

It took a couple of minute of staring at it before it clicked in, you would have seen it. _________________ On a lifelong mission to prove (much to my wife's dismay) that Immaturity is Forever!! |

VERY cool!
A six liter could easily be done with a TIV based powerplant. I started working on something similar to that in 2001 but lost interest. I'd love to finish it some day and mount it midship in a Bus.
Welding on mag isn't easy, your work looks great! _________________ Jake Raby

BTW, this engine uses a electric oil pump for lubrification.
After more than 30 triggered and accelerated the engine, it was found that the characteristics of the VW engine, all the oil returns by gravity to the crankcase and valve tappets.
Just when work is linked with poor lubrication, because the ducts are longer and demanding. Which causes premature wear of bearings and connecting rods _________________ 1957 Typ 113 - Polarsilver

Back in 1969, Brazilian Formula-1 racing car driver Emerson Fitipaldi along with his mechanicals developed a 8 cylinder boxer racer car called Fitti-VW or Fitti-Fusca.
Using Okrasa kit, engine had 4400cc, roller crankshaft, four Weber 45. Metanol as fuel generating 400hp.
The car, painted orange with a white side stripe, official painting of team Fittipaldi, run for the first time at Interlagos in November 1969. The fastest time was with an Alfa Romeo P-33, V8-powered 2-liter: 1m.28.8, in second time was a Ford GT40 in 1m.29.8s. and surprise: the Fitti-VW, with Wilson Fittipaldi Junior, was third with 1m.36.3s.
Also, Aircooled 8 cylinders has been made back in 30/40's .. TATRA or TATRAPLAN
(T77 with a V8 de 3000cc).
