Looks like a twin cam, watercooled engines based on a 36hp case.

Avus, that motor is as unusual as the gas tank shown on your reply. By the way, a photo of your ride is in the March 2010 issue of Ultra VW hitting the newstands this month.

It will be interesting to see what this motor truly is. Can anyone I.D. the case number and it's source?

im trying to figure out if it is air cooled or watercooled. The fan shroud (however small) does seem to be blowing down across the cylinders and then out the tubes pointing at us. Possibly they didnt want to just dump the hot air down into the engine compartment of a race car with a belly.

either way it is amazing. I like how the heads are similar to 547 heads with the exhaust ports on the bottom side, but spark plugs on the side of the heads.

is it some kind of pre-547 development? post this in the split beetle forum and hopefully PROTOTYP will see it and clue us in.
