I got my Harnies back.....
I sent my carbs to Mark a few weeks ago and I wanted to chime in about the experience.
It was worth every penny and he was great to work with. If you buy Webers sight unseen,(Ebay/Samba) it should be mandatory to send them off to him.
The carbs were ultrasonically cleaned, rejetted to my application, fully rebuilt, weblinks added and pre-ran on his engine. (small charge)
Mark also advised me as to the proper linkage and manifolds for my application, which is a bit unique.
Before:
After:
If your carbs need a rebuild or are suffering from an unknow problem, you need MHarney.
Thanks Mark, it really was a pleasure.
One other thing, if for no other reason to use his service.... Mark gives away more free good information regarding Webers on the Samba than anyone.
Support someone that supports the hobby.

What a nice guy, and a good service....
I sent Mark a set of 45 Dells that had frozen throttle shafts.
He managed to remove everything, and save the hard to get throttle shafts.
Cleaned all my parts, new bearings, butterfly screws, sold me some extra parts.... Good comunication... kept me posted on the progress....
Couldn't compain about any part of the deal.
Mark certainly knows what he's doing... and gives out proffesional advice too..
Keep it up Mark.... Great Prices.
Thanks again, - I'll be back... - Joe

Mark and his work are outstanding. He always kept me updated on the progress he was making while working on my carbs, and let me borrow loaner carbs while I waited. He's very honest and if I ever had another set of Webers, new or not, I wouldn't hesitate to send them off to him.
Thanks Mark! _________________ oo9less since 2007

Yeah Mark is a great guy, id buy more webers from him... well if i had another car or the money. I drove down last weekend to pick my carbs up and damn they are sweet. Make my little 1600 with engle 110 cam run like a dream. Mark does excellent work and is very helpful with the advice on every aspect of your carbs. Would recommend him to anyone who need their Weber IDF or Dells cleaned, repaired or even tuned on that nice little bus of his. He will even do work on PDISTs for anyone out there than run em.
Thanks for everything Mark

Hey, this is great information. I have been a little scared to buy a set of used carbs, not knowing how to work on them myself. Its just as hard to just trust someone to do you right on a rebuild job. It sounds like Mark goes above and beyond just a rebuild job. I might start keeping my eye open for some used carbs in the near future. Great info guys!

I recommended Mark to a friend that owns a repair shop. He had a set of Weber 44 IDFs that were originally on a 2332 . The customer put them on a 1776 and it ran like crap. Mark cleaned them up, swapped all the jets and venturis and even ran them on his Bus. They just needed to be installed and tweaked a little.
The cost was cheaper than my friend would of charged the customer for his time.
Mark was professional, kept him updated on the status and even was able to handle 2 day return shipping.
Don't hesitate for a minute to send Mark your carbs. _________________ Glenn

Thanks to everyone for your comments.
I'm posting here to mention that we're moving.
With the move come improved facilities. Much more space, much better features for setting up staging and production. Soon to come will be an in-shop test engine which should move things along quicker, due to increased efficiency. Working with my head inside a bus engine bay for a day at a time gets old, to say the least. This will allow much better and faster access to installation and tuning.
In light of this we will stop taking new work until after the move. All current jobs will be finished before relocating, and for a period after relocation there will be an increased wait time while we iron out details. The current wait time has been about a month for recent orders, and will be about the same for new orders until we get everything in line. If you have something you need done in a hurry, we can't help with it right now, but we should be back in the swing by this time next month.
Recent customers: We want to hear from you! As my primary advertisement is this site, word of mouth and online forums, you can tell people what you think in any of those ways. There should be a feedback form available here soon, but in the meantime, feel free to leave written feedback. I'd encourage anyone to leave some constructive criticism as well as reviews, we're always looking to improve. |

I had a great experience dealing with Mr. Harney. I bought a pseudo-turnkey 1776 that came with an old set of Weber 42 DCNF carbs. They were in pretty poor shape: lots of residue, stuck jets, and other problems that became apparent while Mark had them.
I sent Mark the carbs at the end of April, and after an initial inspection, he informed me of the work that would be necessary to get the carbs ready. I was in no hurry to get the carbs back, and I informed Mark of this upfront. I got the carbs back mid-June.
I haven't run them yet, but I'll update when I've had a chance.
I wouldn't hesitate to send more business to Mark based on my experience. _________________ '74 Beetle <-currently

I just got back my Harney's (previously 48 IDFs).
He did a better job than I could! They were also delivered when he said they'd be done, and did a great job packing them for safe transport.
PROPS!

I got my 44 IDFs back from Mark today, and I have to say:
first class workmanship all the way. They look incredible!
He really worked with me on these, folks. I must have bugged this guy 25 times, and thats not an exaggeration. Each time, he was courteous and answered all of my questions, including one exstensive phone conversation about what I wanted done. His attention to detail and knowledge of how a carb ties into the rest of working engine unit totally blew me away. also, he packages things really well. no harm could have come to my IDFs the way he had them wrapped up.
Mark Harney is good at what he does, and the end result tells the tale. NICE WORK!

Well -- now that the dust has settled I would like to mention to anyone reading these comments -- Mark Harney knows what he is doing! For the past couple of years I have had a number of 'professionals' -- 'mess' around with my Dell'Orto's. I finally decided to research a rebuild on the Samba. After speaking to a few rebuilding services -- I decided to use Harney's Carburetor Clinic -- What a wise choice! Mark provided the CB performance 'Update' kit as well as a general rebuild -- gone is the dreaded 'Dell'Orto Drip' -- replaced by terrific drive-ability! Power is totally smooth and the torque curve is constant and predictable. Add to the professional and compendent service -- Mark has been extremely helpful through out my dealings with him -- He gets an A+ in my book!
Thanks again,
Thom |

recently had my carbs serviced by Mark. Turn around time was good, considering I caught him as he was relocating, communication was great and price was fantastic.
After receiving the carbs and re-installing a little problem arose. The passenger side carb was flooding. The problem wasn't associated w/ the rebuild but Mark drove from Brentwood, TN to Hazel Green, AL to solve this issue. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I'll send anyone that needs carb rebuilds to Mark. Purchasing carbs sight unseen or brand new from the MFR send it to Mark. Let him work a little magic on it.
Thanks Mark, Great job

Thanks so much to Mark! He's a great guy...When I call Mark, he greets me by name (he has caller ID LOL), and is sincere about wanting to help. Mark went through a set of 40mm DRLA's for me. Mark was great about walking me through what was needed, asked me what I was experiencing, and gave me perfect service. I don't have any great before pictures, but they were far from looking like what they do now! The carbs idle super smooth, and looked great. A few minor adjustments for my engine combo, and I was off and running.
Thanks Mark!!!!! I'm a customer for life when I need carb parts and repair! Eric _________________ '67 Sunroof

Mark I can't believe what you were able to do with my carbs... waiting on my new doghouse fan shroud then they are going in... Mark was very helpful and upfront with me about what needed to be done... Funny Hotrodvw... my experience was the same... always greeted me by name.

Been talking to Mark about my ICTs, they were missing a bunch of parts.
Mark sent a few pics asking to make sure it was what I needed, and sent them at a very good price that was very unbeatable.
and I also needed linkage pieces, and he came through on those, thank you so much Mark. _________________ Euro 67 DD On the road to recovery
