I have a 1991 Volkswagen Vanagon for sale or trade. This item is going up for bid. The person that contacts me or comes to look at the item with the best offer or trade gets the Vanagon. I have plenty of pictures so no need to list things. The inside is very clean I've redone quite a bit. The floors the walls have been painted. Very clean.

The Vanagon runs with a jump start but certainly needs work on the motor. Nothing crazy low mile motor just never bothered nor know what I'm doing to even know what's wrong with it.
The two captain seats are pretty rough.
The driver door regulator is broken
The front bumper is missing
The back hatch gas holders are broken
And last but not least there are a couple of small dents in the body. That's it.

I'm looking for the best offer from someone. Have clean title in hand. Or looking for a trade Honda Civic, Volkswagen GTI, Pick Up Truck!! Show me what you've got.

Is that a Syncro badge on the rear hatch? Hard to see. Maybe the seller is going by that. I hope buyers know the difference. Last year, I had some Syncro decals made slightly bigger than the badge:

I put one on my GL just for a picture and have not taken it off to see if it would peel off in our Seattle weather. So far, it's staying put. During the last year, I've had 3 people tell me they've heard of the Syncro but didn't catch onto the 2WD clues. There was another guy who was interested in buying it off me and then felt embarrassed after I ask him where would he put gas in it. So far, only one person pointed out that it is not a Syncro. I should of given him a decal for getting it right.

I recently sold my 86 Weekender with many little upgrades; wheels and tires, Bilsteins, pop top assist, awning, tow hitch, headlight upgrade, LEDs, etc., and very "rust free" and running great--for $8750 after light interest in two months. I am OK with the price, and sending my baby to a new happy home, but think it was CHEAP compared to what everyone thinks their old van is worth. Of course not everyone wants a Weekender but they are fast and light on their feet.
My own experience and attention to the Samba classifieds suggests the market is flat, with many Vans going unsold for months until [if] they are reposted at "reasonable" prices.
It would be great to see a thread or blog with current actual sales prices listed; maybe it would encourage realistic offerings.
And maybe I'm wrong, and people are doing better than I think!
Anecdotes anyone?
