I recently sold my 86 Weekender with many little upgrades; wheels and tires, Bilsteins, pop top assist, awning, tow hitch, headlight upgrade, LEDs, etc., and very "rust free" and running great--for $8750 after light interest in two months. I am OK with the price, and sending my baby to a new happy home, but think it was CHEAP compared to what everyone thinks their old van is worth. Of course not everyone wants a Weekender but they are fast and light on their feet.
My own experience and attention to the Samba classifieds suggests the market is flat, with many Vans going unsold for months until [if] they are reposted at "reasonable" prices.
It would be great to see a thread or blog with current actual sales prices listed; maybe it would encourage realistic offerings.
And maybe I'm wrong, and people are doing better than I think!
Anecdotes anyone? |
Its a big world out there. What was the location of your sale? _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

My Weekender went to Colorado. Coincidentally, today there are quite a few attractive lower price offerings. It's nice to find new homes with new energy for un-used Vanagons to keep the community thriving, and vendors in business! |

A what you actually paid for your van thread might be a good way to get a sense of the market. I would not want to be a buyer in Colorado right now. There is not much of a local selection. I have some people who have me keeping an eye out for them. |

My Westy is the same year as this one and I think this fellow is asking a lot for what looks in the crappy photos like a very rusty van.

EV camper, from the looks of it. Good deal for both, but I suspect that is not the deal.
But check this out:
Porta-Potti = You know what this is.
Bed Above
Bed Below
Pota-Potti = Something for the dog to drink out of when s/he can't get to the toilet at home.
And you'd think folks would select less incriminating photos to accompany their ads and proofread the ads just a little bit better... _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

If anyone is interested in purchasing a brand new Vanagon gas cap for $60.00 when everyone else sells them for $ 20.00 better jump on the offer in the classified section. |

DOOOODE! my WTF scale is off the charts right now.
So, I seem to notice CIP1 sells the LT big mirrors at a nice discount compared to other suppliers. HOWEVER whenever they email me about a sale (currently 10%off), the price either seems to get jacked up or this time they have "run out of stock". I have seen this with other "deals" they have. Can't they just exclude the items from the sale and still offer them? If they really did run out of stock, it's understandable.
ok, I'll spend my money on something else...
Go to Autoanything.com to buy an ARB awning. SOLD OUT, won't restock til July 21.
ooof! damn those early birds catching the worms! I think the world is against me and my money right now. _________________ 1965 Beetle

That's a great 5-7 K van all day. For 11K he should at least paint the wheels the same color correct silver color.
Hopefully someone who knows the van will post what it actually sells for.

Here is a good one:
"Vehicle title is currently salvage due to sitting un-driven for several years..."
I guess if it gets driven again for a while the salvage title will then disappear?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volkswagen-Bus-Vanagon-L-/...blem-check
Not a bad looking van, at least from the photos.

"It is worth 4K$ all day I just need to sell now."
$4,000 for a non-running rust bucket tintop... maybe he meant to say "it'll only take 4K$ to get this back running"? _________________ 1980 Full Camper, been in the family since it was brand new!
