No mention in the CL ad that the van is a camper of any kind, much less an AdventureWagen. No price and not much other info, and they only refer you to the ebay listing which does provide a wealth of detail. There's a second ad floating around wherein the price is about $20K, a little optimistic even though they seem to have done (or paid for) a boatload of work. I believe it is actually this van in the pic directly below. It was being driven around town long ago and then showed up at a repair place where it sat for years, then was purchased by a guy who works at the local VW dealer as a project and then sold by him to finance other things, then it languished behind a different repair place. Looks like someone finally sank a lot of money into it and is looking to get it back.

It means it was totaled by and insurance company at some point.
Getting it insured now can be a hassle, depending upon your state and provider.
It also means that it will appraise lower than a vehicle with a clear title. |

Is this Jeff from PeaceVans van?
I know Jeff sold PeaceVans to Harley a couple of years ago...
Way too much "stuff" hanging all over this van for my taste. No surprise the seller is moving to a different platform. |

My mother responds to this ad.
Gets response below:
I'm Lt. Aaron Torian. The van has only 170,489 miles, last price $2800. The vehicle was never abused or raced. I always garaged it and serviced it, kept very good care of it!
I am in Fort Lewis, Washington Army base in training getting ready for Alconbury, United Kingdom for the next 3 years.I don't want to offend you, but the van is priced for a fast sale so please if you intend to apply for a loan or financing this will not be possible because I will be deployed very soon!
You don't have to worry about the shipping since I will use military transport services which is a free facility for me.
The Suv is already at our Military Logistic Department from Fort Lewis, Washington Army base, crated and ready to go.
I'm currently signed up for a protection program offered by Carsforsale and I would like to close the deal through them. If you are not aware of this program you should know that it will allow you to test drive and inspect the car before paying me. You will have a 7-day inspection period to decide whether you want to keep the van or not before they release the funds to me. No offense, but I need to be sure the person who receives the van is verified by a legitimate party. If the van meets your expectations and you want to keep it you will have to tell them to forward the payment to me so I can get paid.
If you wish to proceed with the purchase, please provide me your full name, address (street, city, zip, state) and phone # so I can initiate the deal through Carsforsale. They will contact you soon with all the details you need about the payment and shipping. PLEASE NOTE! If the van is not how I've described it, you have the unequivocal right to refuse acceptance of the car (return postage on my expense) and you are entitled to a full and complete refund of the vehicle's purchase price. It will be insured during transportation and will be delivered in front of your door. Hope to do business with you soon!
Brgds,
LT. Aaron Torian
I had to laugh when she mentions to me, obvious scam, but my college buddy now a Colonel lives out there and knows the base. He says Marine Master Sergeant Aaron Torian was killed 15 February 2014. 1982 w/1991 motor, Vanagon Westphalia Runs on vegetable oil and/or diesel, manual shift, has built in $1,500 on board filter system for vegetable oil. It has been parked outside for a few years. Attached pictures show the condition but basically it looks like it just needs some TLC and possibly new canvas for pop top. Should be able to start and drive home. Zero miles on speedometer so no idea how many miles on car. comes with kitchen but not the dog Call 603-525-7959 for an appointment to inspect, Tom |

Yup.
This van will "progressively" sag more and more with all that added weight.
I don't know the owner, but have read his bashing posts about vendor products...so it doesn't surprise me that the van hasn't sold.
I work directly with Harley, he is cool |

Are these things really in this much demand? I have been considering removing all of mine. I'd definitely do it if I knew I could get that kind of coin. _________________ 1977 Westfalia 2.0FI 4spd
