http://norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/4683660764.html

1985 RUST FREE VW Vanagon Westfalia - $7000 (chesapeake)

1985 volkswagen vanagon westfalia odometer: 120000 fuel : gas transmission : automatic title status : clean cylinders : 4 cylinders

I have a 1985 VW Westfalia camper (Bronzebeige Metallic) for sale. It is currently not running. I did a complete engine rebuild 3 yrs ago (new heads, pistons, rings etc). I believe it is not running now due to needing new fuel injectors. I haven't the time or where with all to deal with it. I would rather someone own it who will use it and enjoy it, rather than it sitting at my house. Going price on these is high. The low price is due to needing the few repairs listed below and quick sale. If you're interested shoot me an email!

Sorry I don't have pics up, but will try and get those ASAP.

The good:
Automatic
No rust (It spent it's life in Phoenix AZ which is why it has no rust.)
New pop top liner
rebuilt engine
120k miles on engine total less than 1000 since rebuild
Extra slide out captains chair
Completely rust proofed (por-15) and newly insulated behind all wall panels (i took out all interior and did this).
Newer automatic transmission
New fuel pump
All camping eqt works

The bad:
Not currently running
Will likely need new injectors and a rack and pinion (total of about $600-$800)
Paint is faded and clear coat peeling (could use a paint job).
Battery drained (it's new and just needs a charge)

(Volkswagen, Vanagon, Westfalia, Camper, VW, Westy)

I saw that too and got a kick out of the asking price. I collect Jazz and a seller had advertised a few discs I was looking for as " rare and unusual and hard to find". Well.....these discs are readily available, and certainly not rare.
I emailed the seller questioning their claim..... and a few days later I got a response from them. " Well; I live in the sticks and these are rare out here, and really hard to find". Laughing

1987 VW Pop Top Camper with relatively low miles of 135000

Kinda weird that there's no photos of the "brand new motor (sic) and transmission."

Yeah, or technically a "weekender" without the Poptop. Wink

I'd bet more people search for "Vanagon" than "Eurovan" since the Eurovan is so rare in the USA. So they might have done it to get more views Rolling Eyes

My biggest pet peeve on Vanagon For Sale Listings is the people that post ONE overall photo, then ask for $20,000+ and say more info and photos available UPON REQUEST.

WTH!

YOU'RE the one selling the vehicle... if you have more photos why not just post them so potential buyers can see what/why you're asking $20,000+ for a van.

No matter how good the deal seems to be if I only see one photo and the line MORE PHOTOS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST i just move on because to me, its obvious the seller isn't real serious about selling the van...

And I love it when they say something trivial, like the wiper reservoir, has a crack and leaks (but don't replace it) and still want top dollar.... Mad

Now with pictures, and if you harbored any doubts that this is a seven grand machine you will no longer have doubts. Certainly not too much to pay for yard sculpture. Dude, at least air up the tires for that price!

It is a recurring theme in car ads..

Not running car is worth 1000 USd max.

Seller lists 10,000 car as not running, needs a 100 USd part.

Ok....buy the 100 USd part, get it running, then list it, otherwise it's a 1000 car.

Whinge over.

Comes with free white trash is more like it.

What the h*ll? $79,000?

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1694513

The van is from europe (vin number) but has a MPH North American dash pod, but is supposed to have 44,000 original miles?
Has a hodge-podge of interior parts and is clearly a pop-top conversion.
Claims no rust yet you can see the fresh under-coating over the original battered undercoat, always a red flag for rust.
