Yes, it uses Safari (and only Safari). But its nothing like the Safari you and I know, obviously, since its a mobile version.
The iPhone doesn't allow you to browse its 'directory'.
Thats why people make Apps that allow you to do such. To make one..You'd have to get ahold of a App developer (although anyone can be one)
When the app is done, you can put it on the App Store (a service for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad which allows users to browse and download applications. Depending on the application, they are available either for free, or at a cost.)
I think developing an app for TheSamba would be a great idea. Many people on here have a iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad and would love it. Plus you could make some $ by charging for the app, if you wanted. I'd buy it. _________________ TJ

Hey Everett, any updates on Tapatalk for The Samba?
I've been using it for other VW sites, and it rocks!! I'm actually going to install it on my php site, if it's available. _________________ Phillip Bradfield

I can post pictures and replies in the forum fine with my android phone. I actually spend more time browsing with my phone than my laptop now. Is the $4 for the tapatalk app really worth it? _________________ '64 Java

The "issue" isnt that TS cant be surfed on a iPhone...
It would just be much easier to if there was a mobile interface for it, and if you could post pictures to The Gallery.
But as Everett said, this Forum version wont work mobile. So we'll just have to wait for that. In the meantime, of course I surf the 'regular' TS on my iPhone/iPad. _________________ TJ

you can surf the samba from the iphone, and post to, however the problem lies with pictures. you cant ad a picture to an ad you are posting from your phone. you can upload a picture to the gallery. you cant post a pic from your phone in the forum, and if you click in the box called forum code for the the pictures img tag above it in the gallery to copy and paste it to the forum - you cant. so the only way to post a pic on the iphone is to load it on the computer to thesamba. then you have to type the image url by hand in the forum. quite frustrating. i surf forums and classifieds, repsond to emails for my ads and send people pics they request from my phone thru email, would be complete functionality if the above was possible. _________________ Official 58-60 "Early Big Window" Convertible Thread & Registry

if the phpbb is updated, tapatalk would be a nice feature to have. |

It's not a Bug, it's just not a feature.
I can post photos and ads from my Droid phone... but it's not super easy like an App would be. I can't speak to an iPhone because I do not own one.
I wasn't sure how to copy the IMG text on my particular phone but I did a Google search and found out how to do it so it is possible on my Droid.
Again I don't know about the iPhone features in this area but there are some results when I do a Google search for iPhone cut & paste.
The money involved in selling an App, assuming I was to even charge, is very minimal.
I think you mean 2009 to 2011, not 2000. Maybe 2008. _________________ How to Post Photos

This seems to come up a lot, so for those wanting to upload pictures from their iPhone to thesamba.com galleries, it can be done. And with the quality of phone pictures these days there's no reason not to. Best part is, you don't need to jailbreak your phone. You just need a different browse than Safari. Download and use iCab mobile from the app store; it supports picture uploads from the iPhone. In fact I just posted this picture from my iPhone, so it's even been tested.
Just note that you'll probably have to resize your picture in some other app prior to uploading. |
