|
|
Hello Group,
My '74 Standard Beetle came with a non-locking glove box latch. Over the years, the small middle plastic "disc" wore out and split in half. I'm looking to replace either this plastic disc or the entire unit. Does anyone know where I can find either? I've searched and searched but all I have been finding are after market latches with a lock.
Thanks! |

Git A quarter from the same year as your car and pop it in there I know the VW shop/store near me has them but I'm not sure were thy git them from.. when I first got my car it had the wood ones, thy were nasty from over 30 years of grim, So I cut out A bunch of aluminum plugs, polished them up and popped um in Looked Sweet!! |

But, thanks for the suggestion........I'm looking for that odd, obsure individual out there who reads this forum and who has one of these original '74 non-locking latches in their Volkswagen junk pile out in their garage to find this post and...... |

Why not get a VW orig one if your "stock crazy" instead of CIP1's Chinese made crap? Watch/search the classifieds on here for an og one. Usually run 5 to 15 bucks. |

Plastic cap inserts for non-locking glove box knob. A few years back I ordered a couple from the dealership, but dunno if they could still get anymore...
Part Number is: 113 819 663 A
Glove box inserts are identical as for the fresh air and headlight inserts, but without any writing on it's face. I think some early on had a little white arrow on the face to tell you which way to 'twist' to open.
Now as for the rubber knob itself, turns out they are shared with the same part as Fresh-Air control knob for '73-later Super Beetles.

Here's how that knob and insert look all put together...

Both of my '71s have the arrow on the knob, and one of my '72s does as well. |

Knob cap in my '70 had no arrow. But I'm sure it could have been replaced once upon. It had a glossy finish.

Heard a few people talk about how good Nikons are before. And quality of the pics speak volumes. _________________ Be kind to all critters. America's "H8TERZ" can drink sludgy used Motor Oil!

Amen!
As an aside the original insert with the arrow was part number 111857499 as is not available. Antonio offered the next best thing, Genuine VW not some Chinese pos. _________________ Bobby
