Doh my bad... I prolly bumped you out too only to get bumped out myself.
I just won this set of new take-offs on ebay yesterday. i was the only bidder. brand new, no miles, stored for 14 years. mint!
Paid $450 and $150 for shipping.
funny that 2 sets of brand new unused CLK wheels hit ebay within a week of each other... that NEVER happens...
I know many people luck out and find great sets on craigslist for $100-$200 but I havent found any in my area at all. Even though I have these coming I'll still be on the look out locally...

So... I bought these in August 2014 and today I hope to FINALLY get them installed. No idea whats taken me so long, just other projects kept popping up.
I drilled the bolt holes out last night, I'm about to drop off the van to a swap for a wheel stud swap, then drop it off at Discount Tire for a tire swap, then to NTB for a full alignment. This time I'm bringing my own 14mm hex head so they can finally adjust my front caber correctly. _________________ Abel Longoria

I thought you had GW wheels? Any reason why you're ditching those? _________________ 85 Westfalia Weekender

I do have a set of gowesty wheels. I've just always liked these clk wheels. Oh and clk wheels are 11 lbs lighter Per wheel... Less rotating mass. Major plus! _________________ Abel Longoria

Looks like I need spacers, CLKs fitted on a 2wd van. Thought I may clear the top swing arm but it's touching rubber. I'm thinking 10mm spacers, not sure how much clearance I need.

I have 205-55-16 tires on my '82 Diesel Westy and don't run spacers.
No issues. |

I've been looking for a set of these wheels for a while now and am having no luck at all!
Any pointers on finding them? I love the way these look on a Westy and am scouring the internet trying to find some.
Thanks guys. |

Searchtempest for c/list I suppose. ..
When I was looking almost 10 years ago I used to pull up every major city on c/list and thenlook under Mercedes rims, Mercedes wheels, _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,

Thanks guys. That's what I'm doing. Someone else on here just said to be patient and they'll pop up.
I found one nice set but the guy is asking way too much for them because the rubber on them is so nice. |

I repeat what someone else suggested and what worked for me. Place a WTB ad in your local CL and wait to see what turns up. One guy replied immediately but wanted too much and was an hour away, but a week or so later I got a set much closer to home for $200. The guy had two of the cars and had picked up a newer set of 17s for one car so that is the one whose wheels I bought, but the other car had been his aunt's and he was keeping that one original. Evidently, these wheels are not considered desirable among the Mercedes guys but I have seen a set used on an older Merc sedan and they look neat in that application.
Be sure to use a photo in your CL want ad so they know exactly which wheel you mean and use a part number for clarification. Good luck. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

Thanks. I've baited the hook, just waiting for a bite. I've got a line on some through the auto wrecker search but don't know the cost yet. I don't know what Mercedes was thinking with these on their clk320, they look horrible! Whereas they look awesome on the westy! |

Very excited to pick-up refinished CLKs with 215/65r16 KO2s today. Extremely disappointed when trying to mount the rear. The two small bolts that mount the drum interfere with the wheel mounting flush.
It's an 87 syncro and I'm not running spacers. I was fairly surprised given all indications that these would "just fit."
Any help/insight would be appreciated!

I've got a nice set of 4 CLK rims now. Trying to decide on tires.
Van is a 1989 Vanagon Wolfsburg Edition aka Whitestar. Completely stock drivetrain. 2.1l with 4 speed transmission. The Van is currently running 16" Fast rims on 205/55/16 tires and it drives really nicely. I wouldn't mind a little more rubber tif ill the wheel wells but I do not want them to rub.
Trying to determine the best sized tires to put on there, 215/60/16 or 215/65/16 ?
Anybody with a similar van like to chime in here? |

I have a 90 Carat, so should be pretty similar to your Whitestar. I'm running 205/65R16 tires (Hercules Power CV) and they fit well with no rubbing. My wheels are at an equivalent of E31. 215/60R16 is slightly smaller in diameter (26.2 in) and 215/65R16 is slightly larger (27.0 in) then mine which are 26.5 inch diameter. Best I've been able to tell is above about 27 in diameter you are definitely going to rub on a Carat or Wolfsburg. The exact cutoff is unclear from the information I've been able to gather and would vary somewhat with wheel offset and tire width. _________________ 1988 GL Camper

I'd go with a 215/60-16. A little bigger than you have but won't rub.
And try to find an XL tire so the load rating isn't too low, Like these Falken Ziex $70 All Season, load range 99, decent quality brand. Nokian Entyre is also XL in that size but is almost double $.

Just to follow-up ... picture of the CLKs mounted up. I went with 215/65r16 KO2 tires.
