A-Rod hits #660
Say Hey... he's no Willie Mays.
Willie's has something A-Rod will never have... a plaque in the Hall of Fame.

He doesn't deserve to be in the same conversation with Willie Mays _________________ -=Rob

The big question now is will the Yankees pay A-Rod that $6 million bonus for passing Mays? |

They're sure gonna try to pass. The event has no value to them since anything A-Rod does is "tainted". _________________ Glenn

Too bad Shoeless Joe Jackson is dead or they'd have him on also. _________________ Glenn

A-Rod is actually pretty good, Pete Rose is there for shock value only, you can't understand a word he says. |

So in the bottom of the 4th FOX loses their signal and there's a stoppage of play. MLB network takes over and they're concerned that they don't have replay.

Another reason the old timers say TV killed sporting events. _________________ Rick

OK, I'm a baseball fan, my daughter at 24 still plays fastpitch baseball, and I have the highest lifetime average in that league (1.000, one-for-one).
I'm from Pittsburgh, I've only been to one World Series game (1960 Game 7, you know: Mazeroski home run). Here's an amazing fact: that game was 10-9, and was barely over 2.5 hours in length. With that much scoring and pitching changes, would've been over 4 hours easy these days.
By the way: the only WS game EVER with zero strikeouts !!! _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. They are working on his hologram. That's what knocked out the video van from the power surge. |

September 25th, Dodgers last 2016 regular season home game, Vin Scully's last regular season home game.
I'll be there with my kids and a radio.

I just found this thread. I never ventured down to the bottom of the Forum list before. I have an uncle who pitched in the majors back in the 60's and he just told my cousin that the first game he pitched in was 1960 against the Baltimore Orioles. He was pitching for the Cleveland Indians. He could even remember the first 3 batters he faced. The first 2 were guys I never heard of, but the 3rd guy was someone named Brooks Robinson. I've been an O's fan since 1968 and Brooks was always my favorite player. My uncle said his favorite player to pitch to was non other then The Mick, Mickey Mantle. He said that Mickey hit a homerun off him and he hit it so hard that it is probably still going. I would probably get goose bumps taking the mound at Yankee Stadium. That has to be the greatest sports venue on the planet. |

I sent you a PM. My uncle was not a big name so don't expect my uncle to be Whitey Ford. |
