Okay, four months later, and we finally get SOME games on TV... the last three home games, with Vinny, and then next weekend with the Giants, his last ever. Still no solution for next year, but that may not mean anything.. lots of fans will not be returning without Vinny.

Dodgers beat up on the Rockies tonight (14-1), and because the Giants won (barely!), the clinching game may be Sunday at home, with Vinny's final home broadcast. Fan appreciation Day, too!

Now, after 67 seasons (Brooklyn and L.A.), you won't hear this ever again after next weekend:

"It's time for Dodger baseball!
Hi, everybody, and a very pleasant good (afternoon/evening) to you, wherever you may be."

^^^^^^
Vin started announcing Dodger games 6 years before being joined by Jerry Doggett (the guy holding the cigarette) who was 11 years older than Vin. Jerry retired in 1987 after only a 32 year stretch with the Dodgers. I say "only" because Vin's 67 years with the Dodgers makes anyone else's years behind the mic look short by comparison.

At Jerry's Wikipedia page is written: "The character of John Doggett [played by Robert Patrick] on the television series The X-Files was named in homage of Jerry Doggett; the show's creator, Chris Carter, is a Dodgers fan and had previously named the show's Dana Scully character for Vin Scully."

Congrats, Dodgers, and thank you and the baseball heavens for a proper send-off to Vinny, an extra-innings walk-off home run to clinch on your last day at Dodger Stadium.

You forgot Bob Miller and really I should also mention the Clippers Ralph Lawler.

X infinity across the board. We have been truly blessed by the best sports announcers ever. No one can call games the way Vinny and Chick could, when you consider that their chosen sports are polar opposites from an activity standpoint.

Looks like the Cubbies found their hitting.

I hope it's a passing fad. Wink

No Kershaw tomorrow. Holding him for Game 6. Hmmm...

Well, I posted before the game. Bout time, I was pretty sure this was the team who had 103 wins during the reg season. Guess y'all can thank me for getting the bats on track. I stopped being a Dodger fan when the ownership thought it prudent to take the games off TV. 3 years and running, F*** Dodger ownership.
Go Cubs!!

Cubs lead game 6 5-0. If they make it to the World Series it would be incredible, if the win absolutely remarkable. Just think, they haven't been to the series since 1945 and haven't won since 1908. Go Cubs!

They damn well better win it all. No excuse to beat my beloved Dodgers in Vin's last year without going all the way!

I hope they win, it would be amazing to break a 108 year losing streak.
