Some things to consider:

These were the teams with the longest WS drought in baseball. One of them had to win, and it was the Cubs.

We have 2 of the worst presidential candidates ever, running against each other. One of them will win.

It was 74 degrees in Chicago on 11/1. One of the warmest starts to November in Chicago, ever.

The end is surely near! Shocked

Yes, and the Feds are going after the wrong parties now... DirecTV. The real villains are the Dodgers Sportsnet and TW (now Rectum, I mean Spectrum). Both should tear up their deals and start over. WAY too much $$$, and no wonder the other carriers balked. Looks like TW hired more/better lawyers and lobbyists than DirecTV did.

I agree, Direct was protecting their clients (and themselves) from another over priced single sports team package. What are they showing on the channel now while the Dodgers are not playing for 6 months? You wanna charge me for that? Really, the whole cable system of 120 channels for $XXX.XX will soon be ending. We are tired of paying for 23 children's stations, 30 religious channels, 25 Spanish language stations, 5 Korean, 15 Chinese....that we dont watch. Whine off.

That's pretty cool! And definitely rare. I am always amazed on how fast those ladies can throw the ball under handed like that.

I had never even heard of that coined expression before.

My youngest daughter (2Cool still plays fastpitch baseball in an adult baseball league, the only gal. She plays 3rd base and had the fewest strikeouts in the league last year (zero) as her team won the championship for the third year in a row.

Happy Opening Day 2019* everyone!

Gotta say I'm a bit embarrassed to be a Phils fan because of all the Harper drama. That fukker better perform! I don't think the Philadelphia fans will be too kind if he doesn't. I mean they are the calmest, sweetest fans in the world already, wouldn't want to get them all riled up.

*yeah, the two games in Japan did count, and of course the A's are the worst team in the majors to begin the rest of the domestic season.

yes, i think! here's a great example (thanks to mr breeze for the link), where harper gets booed after his second at bat as a phillie (yeah, he struck out twice).
that's awful early in his mega-year contract to have the Philly Boo-Birds riding his butt. love it!

On this day in MLB history (9-3-2011) Pitcher Tommy Milone hits a home run on the first pitch he see’s in the major league. Thank you Tommy for taking care of my son with all the gloves, cleats, lessons and support you give him on his young baseball journey.

Sorry glenn, but it is a good year for sports fans in stl. The commissioners trophy sure would look good next to the stanley cup.

A strong case can be made that Mark McGuire's rookie record of 49 homers in 1987 is more impressive than #20 Pete Alonso's new record of 53 or #99 Aaron Judge's 52 two years ago. The reason being is that the ball is juiced and the players know it. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=is+the+MLB+baseball+juiced

More evidence that the ball is juiced: the Twins set a record for team home runs in a season with 307 (including Sunday's final games of the season). The Yankees were right behind with 306. The previous record of 267 was set by the Yankees last season. The Astros and Dodgers also surpassed that 267 mark this season. 14 of the top 23 all-time team home run marks have been set in the last 10 seasons; and all 23 happened after 1995. ----> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League...one_season Let's be glad the steroid era and juiced ball era didn't overlap.

The best-of-five Twins vs Yankees Division Series matchup beginning Friday will be interesting to see if good pitching will dominate power hitting. Like Casey Stengel said, "Good pitching will always stop good hitting -- and vice versa." Laughing
