Bring it back from the dead. What's new.. Good job so far.
Do you like having the old style steering wheel? |

Thanks for the interest. Its been a while. This past summer I spend away from my bus. Got back home for a little over a week though, so got to drive it a little.
Before I got home, a friend took it to the local VW show for me. Here it is with his bus:
At the show:
When I arrived to pick it up:
First drive, some local Newfoundland scenery:
Got home and had to address some issues from a long rough winter. Wanted to spend a day cleaning it up so it looked ok for the short time I had with it:
Ugh:
The joys of Newfoundland, so much rust:
Hate to see it this way, but its for a good cause. Painted wheels, bumper, grille, clean caps, few touch ups:
Stripped the bumper, the rest of the parts got a quick scuff and coat of paint:
Thats better:
All put together:
Gave it a good cleaning:
Didn't get much time with it, but I did drive it as much as I could.
With my buddies boat before a sail:
Checking out another bay:
Aircooled visit to the local Ronald McDonald House. Unfortunately kids weren't available this year to check them out, but we did make our donation from our shows:
Cruise to the house:
Me and co-organizer Jon presenting the donation from The Dub Show:
Quick snaps with a local Beetle:
Last snaps by my house before it goes away:
Tucked away, yet again. Pretty amazing that after all these years and Newfoundland winters, the shelter is still doing its job:

That was the total for 3 shows. Its a pretty small show in Newfoundland, and we have it free for both participants and spectators. Along with that, we have also donated a lot of food to local food sharing association. Always great to give. _________________ 1984 VW Rabbit GTI

Had a little visit home to Newfoundland over Christmas, and took advantage of the mild weather to take the bus out.
My gf came down with me from Ontario for the holiday and finally got to meet the bus, after listening to me go on and on about it for months.
Giving her the tour:
She hopped behind the wheel for a cruise. Little tricky for someone only 5'1" but she handled it fine. Even got her "bus lean" on:
Then I got back to my favorite place to be, behind the wheel:
Took a scenic drive and may have gotten a little stuck:
Luckily my brother came to the rescue and pulled the bus out:
Few more bus pics:
Then back to its shelter for a while until I get back home this summer. Really hoping to get the kitchen functional and do some camping.

Few parts I picked up while in Florida. Some OEM mirrors and caps.
Should clean up nicely.
4 weeks until I am reunited with the bus and can get back to working on it and enjoying it. _________________ 1984 VW Rabbit GTI
