|
|
I found this rooftop tent listed as a "camping bed/tent" on Craigslist.
I was looking for a small tent under $30 and got luckier than expected!
The only thing missing were the roof brackets. I secured it to my Thule rack with clamps and then strapped it down with tie down straps. Drove to the beach on a test run with no issues.
It's 6 1/2 long x 3 1/2 feet wide and 3 feet tall when open. My wife and I were both comfortable inside and had plenty of room (I'm 5'9" and she's 5"5"). My teenagers were happy with the roomy interior too.
It comes with a removable table and ladder (the ladder is designed for a bug) I'll use a modified 6' aluminum ladder on trips.
It's heavy and takes two people to carry and mount on the roof.
We're so excited and can't wait to use it on a camping trip.

Bought this one today in Bremen IN, the same town where the canvas for it was made. It was used once years ago and hasn't been opened since until today. It is in great condition.

Jiffy Camper, bought from a ex-VW exec who was the man to see if you had an accessory you wanted to sell through / to VW..I remember he said to me " Trust me, you cannot imagine some of the crazy things people came up with!". He liked this though, and wanted one on every bug in a showroom ( not sure how extensive an area, but at least the northeast). When he retired, he wanted one from a dealership that was closing down, - they gave it to him. He had it more or less stored for about 30 years. Only very very small tear.
Here it is on my 55, brother and daughter helping to set it up for the 1st time..
Has original mattress, and mattress cover..... |

Yes, used my original platform as a template to make a new one having fold down legs to accommodate the earlier car, hooks indirectly onto bumper via brackets for my 55 allstate trailer. |

Has ANYONE ever found a Dove Lodgette for sale? Seen one online or elsewhere, other than the extremely rare "found it on craigslist" for pennies
I see the brochures from time to time but never the roof top tent..... why?! |

Found part of a carbak roof tent at a swap earlier this year. I ended up passing it along to a buddy.
