What are you going to use the table for?
That sized table would probably be pretty small, if you plan on using it for more than a side table while camping.
I did buy one at wally world that I use for a side table and it does fold in two and stores easily up top.
It's the small table in the picture.

I did a ton of research and everyone seems to love the Roll-a-table.
I bought one and like it, it is small though.

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for; it fits really well above the engine hatch and is nice and big:

hey joetiger
I have one of those I use for the bigger 'family' camps
I got it from work when it collapsed from use because the spot welds were well.. spotty.
they filed a warrenty claim and tossed it in the back, said if anyone wanted it.. Since I'm the only gent in the office with a wirefeed welder..
just double check your legs and it's golden. _________________

I have one of these:
http://www.rei.com/product/765280
and love it. It packs well, I keep it with my roll chairs right side behind my seat. I can put hot pots right on it, cleans well.
I had another one, the "elastic cords" that let it roll, broke and REI gave me a new one.
I've used the blue roll tables, and you can't put hot pots right on it and sometimes the places you screw the legs into strip from the wood. They don't clean as well either.
http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid=2717&pdeptid=1606
I think the REI metal one is the way to go.
The table packs better if it is not rolled, but yet folded.
I use it all the time and I love it. I also use a stove stand http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_006397060...921x00003a
to get the stove off of the table making more room. It's a killer set up for my usage. Both table and stand pack in the same bag. _________________ 86 bostig SYNCRO

I got this for the "family" for christmas. We've used it once so far (been camping twice this year). It is moderately heavy to carry and folds neatly into a carrying bag. When folded the bag is probably 5" thick and about 3'x3'. The toughest thing so far was getting it level on the ground. There are quite a few legs to deal with. I believe each leg telescopes a bit, but it was just easier to pick it up and set it down on flat(er) ground. For $109, I'd buy it again. I would not put myself into the "light" packing category. _________________ 87 Westy, 250k GW 2.4 - 2.0 , 16" wheels |

I spend altogether too much time surfing Steepandcheap.com - it's one of those 'one deal at a time' sites that deals in outdoor gear. For the van, I've picked up a Kelty car tent, and the ALPS folding table & chair set that 'buildyourown' showed. The set folds up into a small suitcase sized package which fits nicely behind the rear seat. It's not huge, or particularly heavy weight, but it seems to do the job.
I think I picked it up for $59.99 - a reasonable price all things considered. No way would I pay the $150 retail that it's listed for. It's available at DepartmentOfGoods.com (the non ODAT affiliate of steepandcheap.com) right now for $105:

Here is a great folding table that has a swing out rack for a stove.
http://www.competitiveedgeproducts.com/detail.aspx?ID=19
All I can say is that this table is extremely strong and durable. I've had one for 5 years and its a strong as it was the day it arrived.
Here is another one similar to the Alps table:
http://www.competitiveedgeproducts.com/detail.aspx?ID=541
If you just need a sturdy folding table these guys have tons of tables to choose from and all of them.
http://www.competitiveedgeproducts.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=11
Lifetime tables are probably heavier than the REI or Alps versions but they are typically much more stout and will take a beating. _________________ '87 Syncro Westfakia, 1.9TD ADE (AAZish), 068 Injection Pump, K03 turbo, 2.5" exhaust, Mercedes nozzles, SAAB Blackstone charge-cooler w/ 800cfm fan, Micro-1000 EGT sensor pre-turbo, boost at about 13psi, 235/70/16 with stock gearing |

The first table I bought was similar to this one with wood slats.
http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Sports-XT-Folding-Table/dp/B00004TBL7
Didn't realize wood was unfinished when ordered, but gave a sanding, gave a few coats of marine spar varnish and it has functioned flawlessly over the years, standing up to the weather and the occasional hot pots placed on it, and cleans up easily.
Then recently, there have been times when a larger table comes in handy and after a lenghty search, I decided to get this one.
http://www.amazon.com/ALPS-Mountaineering-Dining-Table-Regular/dp/B000FNAZVQ
All aluminum(with exception of plastic corners) sturdy and
It folds up in sections to about the same size as a folding chair and can be stored in the roof rack. Over all a decent size, not to big and not to small.
Now sometimes I use both or one or the other.
You just have to determine your needs and how table will be used to determine which type is best for you.
Similar to alps mountain but less expensive.

I picked up one at an antique store last fall (pure luck) as i had been looking for awhile. It's called 'Handy' and is an older made one of stout metal, picnic table style when unfolded and seats 4, very compact folded up and maybe made in '60's -'70's, don't know. Mine is bright yellow with a masonite top. |

I have upgraded a few times since my post above. I bought a new table from Walmart this summer.
The table folds in two and can easily be stored on top of the luggage rack. Folded 20"X20", unfolded
20"X40", there are different heights that you can set the legs at if you desire. Last couple of times
I used the table I kept the legs in their lowest position, so I didn't have to stand to cook. At the low
height I think it would make a good card table too.

I don't know if this is the best, but it does pack up compactly (about the size of an umbrella chair) and is a nice size. I got it with credit card points. It is made by Outwell. It has four glass holders and is fairly stable.
Here's the size folded. It has a bag it slides into.

+1 on the roll-a-table. Almost every guided raft trip I've been on that's what the outfitters bring and they use them to serve lunch on river trips every day all spring and summer and they last for years. _________________ _____________________
