Here is the paint code should any of you need it. I had received 10 PMs so I am sorry for the wait in response.

Hi Scott,

Your car is looking great. Just wondering about the clips. How will you handle the paint on the clip itself? Or will you leave it bare?

Thanks
Trevor

Clips? Do you mean the hog rings, that hold the upholstery on? If so yes I will paint them by brush with clear. Feel free to PM me and we can talk if ya want.

Ahh I did the hub cap clips and rivets in a black oxide coating.

Hey Scott, can you give us any details on how you did the black oxide coating? I recall you saying before that it was a home friendly process...

Here you go http://www.caswellplating.com
I worked at my Uncles plating facility for almost 5 years when I had my shop, this is the easiest and nicest product I have found. Even my uncle was impressed with the quality and finish. Of course it's just a option but a very doable one that yields a great finish and corrosion protection on parts.

Got all the seats and bit off to Kevin in West OZ. Although it will be a while till they are in. I am looking forward to getting them back, admiring the craftsmanship, and using it as motivation to keep pressing on.

Wow! Those look great!

Scott, what did you use as a drift to push out the pin that holds the position selector on the bottom of the seat frame? I spent the day taking my seats apart and couldn't find anything to push that pin through.

A roll pin punch, they usually come in sets. Any good tool supplier should have them.

So Kevin sent back the most amazing upholstery ever. Detail and marks are so perfect, I am so lucky to have the craftsmanship of this true craftsman in this build. Don't want to un rap the plastic.; hence the appearance of rinkles. Will post more soon, thank you sincerely Kevin.

I've had a set of boxes just like those addressed to me, once. Fantastic work! So looking forward to this car getting on the road. Another excuse to visit SFO!

BTW Scott...I like your chequered shoes.

So I learned old style math, and when I need to make geometry and trigonometry, I do it a little different than how I was taught in school. Tonight was so cool showing kids what a plumb bob,a scale, and a caliper are used for. Best night in a long time, so elated for getting them to see what pattern making is.

Hello all, I'm terribly sorry that this resto has come to a hault. Jim Constas is finishing up exhaust, and I hope to have the motor bench started soon. As in life things change and I need to focus attention to family right now. My beautiful mother needs a bucket list done. So as I promised my father before he died, what she wants she gets. That being said, she always loved my 71 tinny back in the day. I'm going to keep her alive to take the first ride in this Ghia, but I need to tend to her needs first. Here is where I'm at right now, family first always.

Hey all sorry I may have seemed absent over the last year+. Have had a lot of huge life things happen. Put the Cabriolet on a full stand by mode, working on something else and financially helping my mom now that pops is gone. That being said, I have been busting ass to earn so I can fund this restoration and if you want to read the post it will make sense. There is no path for life just the journey, and this one has been life altering. This Cabriolet will be built, bigger life things are now. Blessed to be able to do this stuff. Dad must be watching over me cause I will move into my own shop in May. Now I hope I can build and restore for people.
