Yes it does, I had a set of those fenders on my Bug for a while, circa 1978-79.

By the way...At your earliest opportunity, get that fuel filter out of the engine compartment. There are at least 10 people on here that have lost there rides due to fuel filters breaking, cracking hoses etc. in the engine compartment. Crying or Very sad

Yes, cloth wrapped fuel line is fine. I have one filter under my gas tank and one just as the hard line exists thru the rear of the pan with small hose clamps. Do not overtighten the clamps.

yeah, wrong seats, and decklid, but it is solid, and numbers match. needs floor pan on pass. side. gonna ride the summer out the way it is. then get tore down at winter. it's killing me not painting it right away, because i paint cars and bikes for a living. that green is got to go. got some minor bugs to work out with the lights. but the main thing is the wife is on board! Very Happy

Hey Bleeds, Nice Bug!

My '56 oval had the same "spray paint over everything, rust around the brake fluid reservoir" in the spare tire compartment. I kind of feel like this area is a shrine to the bug's identity and origin so I worked on it with paint remover and did rust removal. The number plate and Made in Germany plate came out real nice looking. I was glad to see your picture since I thought that someone had removed rivets and then used screws to replace the made in germany plate but mine looks exactly like yours! Very Happy .

Since the modern paint seems to be inferior I was even able to devise a technique using paper towels and paint remover where I could reveal some of the original finish without hurting it! I also removed the Brake fluid reservoir, removed the rust and painted the non original parts with 2K epoxy primer and now its back looking like a shrine to the bug again. It feels good to stop the brake fluid assault on my otherwise rust free baby. I don't think I will reconnect the brake fluid back up but instead I want to get a reservoir that will mount on top of the master cylinder. (That area is next, some unholy grime collects on those two shelves)

Anyway, your picture set off all of that in my head and I thought you might get inspired by that experience.

Stephan
