i know my engine is a 40 hp, but shouldnt there be some numbers under the generator stand? it only has "40" stamped on it. is that a replaced case or something? |
That'd be either a universal replacement case or factory remachined original. Some pictures of the front and sides of the sump and a close-up of the generator pedestal area should tell definitively. _________________ Check my classifieds for kewl gauges:

between having a 7 month old son and being slammed at work, i have had very little time for this car. well things have slowed down so i started back on it. got the hood and fenders stripped to bare metal, found a few surprises in the fenders. like the hole for a turn signal that was hacked into it, only to be mudded over. and a nice size crease thats was mudded over. atleast now she is get done right. also got the body and pan ready for seperation, just waiting to finish up the rotissery.

A good '57 oval you got there. It's good that you are able to do the bodywork and paint yourself. Thanks for showing us your new '57 bug.
Looks like you have green tool boxes too!, but those are just tool boxes. |

Nice to see another Oval in the area! Seems as though you are off to a good start. What color you going with? |

That's a nice color. Maybe I'll see you cruising around sometime, I'll be in a 57 Coral Red rag. |

fabbed up a 5" beam for it today. i still need to finish welding it. it is just tacked together. pan is coming along nice since it came back from powdercoat. i have my drop spindles all rebuilt. once the beam is done and painted i can finally put together my brakes. _________________ 1957 vw beetle

finally life has slowed down enough to work on this again. work has been crazy busy with hail jobs and to top it off we moved into a new house...bigger garage! the pan is almost all buttoned up, just need to finish up the rear. so today i built a rotisserie to help getting this oval done.

What supplier did you go with for the new rear apron and how does it look in person?

rear and front aprons came from auto craft. i am in the process of fitting the rear now. so far no problems fitting. just some minor tweaking at the bottom corner. i did end up drilling out the inner support, it is easier to fit it with it out. i will re-weld it later. the outer bumper brackets came from wolf....top notch parts. heater channels from klassic fab look awesome cant wait to install. shipping is slow from them though, but worth the wait. _________________ 1957 vw beetle
