Powder coating.
Do NOT let them do it on the back where the wheel touches the drums and rotors, and grind any powdercoating out of the tapered lug seats. _________________ Give A Pal a Hand!

| I am new around here so let me first say hi. I just acquired my first bus, a 1977 Westfalia in the same color scheme as yours (needs a lot of work to look as good as yours). It runs great, just needs some cosmetic love and a lot of small things. Do you have any suggestions for finding parts. I have done a lot of searching on the internet and have come across some good sites, but just curious if there is any place I may be missing. Love your Bus and hope mine looks that good when I'm done. |

I like the stupid question thread. Mostly because it gives me an avenue to ask anything I want. You may find yourself combing the classifieds here on this site-local craigs lists- and then selecting various new parts you may need or want from several vendors you find out there as well.
Welcome on board, thanks for the kind words on the bus. The guy above me, Tram had alot to do with it looking like that. He took care of it for several years before I got it. _________________ Jason "notchboy" Weigel

Phase one of the stereo was to buy it. Its a big mp3 play in essence. No CD.
Phase two was to make a home for it in the glove-I did that today. Looks like some paper mache ass thing in this pic But does look better in person with out the glare. Does the job perfect. I made a wood frame, glued and screwed it to the glove box then wrapped it in fiber glass sheet-hence the crumpled bag look
Next will be the kick panel speakers, amp, box in the back with 6x9s.
Then Ill put in my parcel trays!

I've never liked raised white letter tires, but at least this mod unbolts in short order. Reminds me of rednecks in wifebeaters with mullets in Pontiac Trash Cans.
The wheels actually should be alloy silver. _________________ Give A Pal a Hand!

Looks good Jason! You know I am a stock guy, so my choice would have been the stock look, but the new look is cool and beefy.
By the way, there will likely be a contingent of French nationals hunting you down for butchering their language: "Whaa - Laaaa!"
For the next time: ........Voila!
The bus is lookin' real purdy. _________________ *****************

That's actually a good decision. Mrs Westfab has powder coated rims and you would not believe the squeaking noise that comes from the hubcaps as they skate around on that finish. _________________ *****************
